After a string of coincidences, Nono and Mirei end up trapped in the closet together, and we get a wonderful combination of flashbacks and angst. We finally get to see Mirei luring Nono into the world of yuri stage drama, and how Mirei blames herself for Nono’s condition. Primavera (from episode 1) was supposed to be played by Nono, and Mirei was very excited about stripping Nono to take some measurements.
While the two are shouting with their stage voices, in hopes of attracting help, Nono suddenly loses her voice and has to communicate by writing in a notebook. It’s a poignant moment, with Mirei breaking down in tears, and Nono telling Mirei they are still friends. Mugi was actually outside the whole time and loving the story, but finally she gets spotted and goes to get help. After a night of sleep, Nono is better again.
What a touching episode! It was so sweet how Mirei used her mojo to get Nono to join the club and put up with all the tough coaching. The wonderful friendship just made it that much sadder when Nono was forced to quit the DC in order to get back on stage immediately. Even Mugi was moved to tears at the story, although it probably sounded like someone relaying a sob story over a cell phone, since Mugi probably couldn’t read Nono’s cue cards.
Nono is definitely turning into my favorite character, with her tragic backstory, willingness to suddenly start brawling (and/or slam chairs down, WWE-style), and deep yuri-tastic friendship with Mirei. I also liked how Nono emits Yoki while hiding in the storehouse, and randomly accuses Takashi of sexually harassing her. Mirei was also fleshed out a bit, and we got to watch her comically try to work the door, attempt to use all kinds of harem-lead moves on Nono, and feel all guilty about her role in Nono’s health condition.
