Misao easily kills the Oogami family, but Ayano scoffs that Misao is still weaker than Ren. It turns out the the yoma, Michael Hurley, just lied to her about the ends justifying the means. Misao is too weak to control the gathered power, and when she hears that religion can’t justify her sins, she faints; this allows Michael to gather up all the energy and summon his blue-eyes white dragon, Vlitra. The dragon absorbs Misao, meaning that the purifying Kannagi flame will have to deal the finishing blow again.
Ayano leaps into battle, but her head is muddled as she wonders if Kazuma is in love with Misao. Kazuma saves Ayano from some jello tentacles, but gets hurt. He has a heart-to-heart with Ayano, telling her he didn’t get power to be selective; he has more than enough mojo to save everyone. With that in mind, Kazuma charges up Enraiha with a Shinen knockoff, and Ayano one-shots Vlitra. Kazuma won’t let Misao die (suicide would just be escaping her debt), and he reminds her she still owes him her body. Juugo wisely sends Misao to a convent instead. It’s finally revealed that Misao once protected Kazuma from being repeatedly lit on fire by Kannagi brats, and that’s why she is so important to him.
Kazuma was incredibly mojotastic in this episode. He speech about not being selective with his power was wonderful, and he can barely keep the ladies off him now. I was snickering at all the extra NSFW Misao scenes after her dragon romp, and the body debt reminds me of Murder Princess. It’s too bad Michael Hurley continued to yap while he was on fire, when he could have just stopped, dropped, and rolled to put out the flames. Hell, he was already in the correct position, so he only needed to roll. Meanwhile, we continue to get hints about the yoma that took over flashback girl, and Kazuma sure was pissed when Michael repeated the line, “In the name of the Stars of Sagacity, I seek only the divine truth.”
The juxtapositions used in this episode were quite good. There was both the hilarious Ren barrier and the slightly more effective naked-Misao barrier. Unfortunately, both failed. I was also intrigued at how Misao looked down on her father as someone who fawned over power, and then killed her own family members. Jeez, all Kazuma did was smack her brother around a little. The Kannagi Clan has got some serious issues, and in spite of Juugo trying to hold onto the branch families, much of the Oogami clan is gone.
