When the game comes up, most of the team wusses out, except DT. None of the bench players play, and they serve no purpose on the team.
Hideyoshi dribbles out the clock and gets blocked going to the hole, or takes a tightly-contested jumper that clangs off the back iron and gets rebounded, allowing the opponent to get an easy fast break layup on the other end.
While there was liberal palette-swapped stock footage goodness in the original series, the production values weren’t that bad. Moreoever, it was quite recent. Why remake this series? It’s based off a very short little online manga that was not very deep to begin with. Even if they stick with the manga’s original twist, where do you go from there? Intergalactic Slam Dunk without any of the comedy or story off the court? WHY?!
I hate to buzzer-beat a dead horse, but it this remake doesn’t compute. I’ll probably still watch it anyway, though…
