Stamp It

Woo, saw on Anime News Network this announcement about Evangelion stamps.

The stamps, featuring images of some of the most popular characters from the Evangelion anime, will be sold in sheets of ten stamps, valued at 80 yen per stamp. As a special service to customers, the Tokyo Chuo Post Office will have a 2 limited edition ink stamps available for customer use on February 23rd only. The ink stamps feature images of Shinji Ikari and EVA Unit 01.

I especially like the last one. Poor Misato didn’t get her own stamp =(.

wow, those are pretty nice! Too bad nobody will ever use them, and they’ll forever be collectors items by ever eva fan who buys them.

    Did someone say Eva Merchandise?

I will buy these as they become available in Malaysia (for my next trip back).

Plus its something to complement my 7 or so Rei and Asuka PVC, Action Figure and limited sculpt pairs.
    =)

Ooh, nice looking stamps! It’s true, I doubt anyone would ever want to use them since they’re a definite collector’s item. Also, I’m sure someone will be posting their collection on Flickr one of these days. :)

As far as I know stamp collectors don’t give a crap about unused stamps. So at the very least you’d have to send them to yourself. Also this isn’t expensive at all. There’s no reason to not buy a whole bunch and then keep them in different locations of – uhm your room? – for redundancy and safety.

I was surprised there wasn’t a NERV stamp. Seems all official and everything.

@Chris: Actually, stamp collectors (aka philatelists) tend to prefer mint condition stamps
especially if they are in plate blocks or sheets. There is one type of “used” stamps
that are collected quite avidly called First Day Covers. These are envelopes/post
cards with the first day of issue postmark. I used to collect stamps myself “xx”
    years ago.

That said, I wouldn’t mind getting some to add to my old collection…which has been collecting
    more dust than stamps lately.

Those stamps look really great. I’m not into stamps but I think they’re very cool.

Kabitzin – great point about the lack of a NERV stamp…that would have been perfect!
