Round 5… Fight!

For those that care, 9rules has opened up the 5th round for submissions. A post about round 5 already hit digg, so there have been a lot of submissions already. The 9rules anime community is rather sparse, but 9rules may be a good way to get your site’s name out to a wider audience. Both Jeff Lawson and Hung are some of the luminaries already listed.

I submitted Sea Slugs! for listing, but who knows when we’ll hear back.

Hooray! It’s the Seaslug Team. Hi I’m one of the community leaders alongside Hung. I recommended your blog in the forums so we’ll see how things go. I’m really looking forward to see who we get this round. Good luck!

    Man, that link describing 9rules make it sound as though it’s some sort of cult. ^^;

    Heh.

Fighto! IMO Sea Slugs is one of the blogs that definately should be on there, if any. Good luck :)
Skane: Lol, or like being introduced into the “family”.

I don’t get it. Does 9rules actually help to promote any blogs, or is it just a cutesy gif button? All blogs which belong to 9rules I found on my own. You know, some semi-famous capitalist said once, “I know that half of my advertising money is wasted, the trick is to know which half”. From whrere I am, 9rules seems utterly useless.

9rules does have a bit of a reputation as a quality directory of sites, and so a link on 9rules helps push a site’s profile a great deal (especially with search engines). So while great content usually will eventually get out on its own, getting listed on a site like 9rules can help a site reach a lot of readers quickly.

Also there is something to be said for the nice reviews that the staff at 9rules writes up. It helps to strengthen their claim to list only the best blogs they have seen. I can see the appeal of a directory that has been pre-screened.

I know this sounds like a big advertisement, but I really think 9rules has a nice idea, and shouldn’t be thought of as utterly useless. Whether they really have the best blogs listed is certainly debatable, but at least all the blogs listed are worthy enough to attract attention from the staff amidst all the other blogs submitted.

I got it, thanks. Of course my view is highly skewed by the circumstances.

    BTW. Technorati ratings today:

    39 Instapundit

    15097 AoMM
    18876 BasuGasuBakuhatsu (member of 9rules)
25794 Jeff Lawson (member of 9rules)
    29508 Sea Slugs

    115793 MichaelOno (member of 9rules (!))

I didn’t think you guys would worry about something like 9rules if promotion were the objective.

lol big advertisement. 9rules does help out with your exposure but what’s even cooler is that Scrivs, the head guy, watches a bunch of anime so that’s super cool! The other bizarre thing about 9rules is the people you’ll meet there.

The communities have some of the best web designer on the web including this guy Byran. (He helped to design facebook I think.) But anyway Bryan loves Azumanga Daioh so we have a lot of hidden anime support throughout the various communities in 9rules.

They’ve started to announce the new members. Two sets of additions are up on the main page (http://9rules.com/blog/).
