To cure Louise of the potion, Saito blackmails Montemorency into going to Ragdorian Lake. The “tears” of a holy water spirit can turn Louise back to normal, and Montemorency has a contract with the spirit. However, it turns out that the spirit is angry about being attacked all the time. When the gang tries to stop the attackers, they learn that it’s just Kirche and Tabitha following royal orders.
So why’s the spirit raising the water level? Apparently the evil king Cromwell stole the spirit’s Ring of Andvari, and the spirit wants it back. Since the spirit can only travel through water, flooding seemed like as good a solution as any. Fortunately, Saito promises to help, and because a Gandalfr kept a promise with the spirit before, the spirit gives Saito an advance on the tears. Elsewhere, Fuuke and her mysterious savior meet up with Cromwell and get orders to make a move.
This was totally a set-up episode, especially with Derflinger commenting about the nostalgia of the lake, and the spirit mentioning another Gandalfr (no doubt Derflinger’s previous master). Obviously Cromwell and Saito will come to blows, and hopefully Louise will be able to do more than a big smoky explosion by then.
As for amusing bits, I enjoyed watching Siesta shaking with rage as she watched Louise go all DereDere. If Siesta only knew about Louise’s strange displays of affection (such as biting and… knitting), Siesta’d probably go all killer-maid as is the fad these days. After witnessing Louise the last two episodes, I’m starting to question whether I want to see her end up with Saito. Then again, her line about it being ok to “make a move” for an hour or so was both strange and humorous. I wonder if Fuuke’s move will be similar.
I liked Kirche even more this episode, and Tabitha was as boring as ever. Saito getting easily owned was rather disappointing.
