Touka survives, and the villagers of Tusukuru wonder if Hakuoro is evil (since the Evinkuruga fight against evil). Hakuoro is depressed about this, and tries to drink his problems away, but Eruru won’t let him. After some horrible quotes about how Eruru is like a mother to him (poor Eruru), Eruru embraces Hakuoro and tells him that she has never found him frightning, and that he is simply Hakuoro to her.
After leaving Mukuru to guard the front gate, Hakuoro promises to remain himself while cutting down the Kuccha Keccha forces. Hakuoro skillfully kites Orikakan away from the fighting (while Hakuoro’s elite fighters slow down Touka), and tries to question Orikakan about who Rak Shine was. As Hakuoro looks at his hands, however, a dark haze creeps over him, and his hands become blackened and monstrous. Orikakan funs in fear, only to be sniped out by Yue, who has been camping above them the whole time. Hakakaka, I yams what I yams!
The first part of this episode was sooooo uncomfortable, with Hakuoro giving several backhanded compliments to Eruru. The knowing glances between Karura and Urutorii indicate that Hakuoro’s heart was mended with a special kind of healing that night, and yet Hakuoro still had enough energy for a second course. Also uncomfortable was the “Cursed Seal” scene scene with Hakuoro as Yue peppered him with taunts and riddles. That laugh is really something else. Poor Touka is not going to get paid now.
Aruru jumping on Mukuru was super cute, and I had an urge to glomp a big cat myself.
