POLL TIME!!!
Some of you might recall awhile ago that Sea Slugs finally reached the 4000th comment, and that as SST tradition dictates, Kabitizin must grant the winning commenter with his/her choice of fanart. Unfortunately, we were unable to extricate a fanart request from our 4000th commenter, Epi. Since this is a totally unprecedented turn of events, we decided to do something out of the ordinary and throw it out to the public, American Idol style. Without the singing.
Anyhoo, a poll will be up shortly that will allow you all to vote on which series the fanart will be derived from. Once the winner has been determined, we’ll be open to suggestions on what the topic or situation should be. Since there’s simply too many series out there, we have decided to limit the series selection to 5 rough ‘n’ ready contenders. Coincidentally, these are the more popular series, which will most likely offend and enrage those of you who eat strawberry yogurt. If there’s enough demand for a particular niche series, we’ll add it to the polls. Also, I will be open to palm greasing if anyone wishes to circumvent Kabitzin’s democratic tendencies.
The contestants are, in no particular order:
- Utawarerumono: Who wants some Aruruu snuggling action? <Raises hand>
- Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni: I always wondered if Kabitzin would be able to pull off a blood ‘n’ guts piece.
- The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi: Never underestimate the power of a Mikuru molestation scene.
- Ouran High School Host Club: Might be our only chance to see Kabitzin do sparkly bishies.
- Nana: Kabitzin is not a fan of the odd art style. How ironic would it be if he had to mimic it?
As you can see, I’m pretty much in favor of anything that gives Kabitzin a hard time. Here’s to hoping that he doesn’t cop out with a chibi 4-koma! I highly encourage everyone to spread the word and crank up the pressure - otherwise he’ll just get lazy and procrastinate.

As much as I would love to see a Yuki fanart, my vote goes to Utawarerumono.
SHaruhi is popular enough as it is already, with multiple fanarts galore littering the internet, and so I wish to give another series a chance.
As for the theme? Twins archers in drag; ô,ô or if only one character is allowed, Hakuoro cosplaying as a Gundam villian. :P

Nice choice of colours. I’m not sure whether I recognize all characters. The first is with no doubt Hina Ichigo. No idea about the 2nd. The 3rd looks like Natsuki from Mai HIME. Next comes a Gundam Seed character, maybe Meer? The blonde girl looks like Saber. The last one could be Sora from Kaleido Star.

tj han, although Kabitzin and I both *love* Range Murata’s art, we had to narrow the field to series that are currently running. Otherwise, there would never be a consensus.
Hmm, I didn’t think anyone would turn the art collage into an identification game. Pretty close on most of those, Chris. The first isn’t Hina Ichigo, though Kabitzin does have a nice Hina piece that was never colored in [you need to finish that up!]. I believe the second one was actually entitled “self portrait”, though I could be wrong on that.

Ouran had a huge rocket start (or perhaps rolling start) out the gate, but we’ll see if the graph holds up.

Hakuoro as Char/Zechs/Neo/Masked Man or Dorii and Guraa as the Hawke Twins FTW. Any Utawarerumono character would also do.
Oh, and the Archer Twins are both guys… Heck, even Hakuoro was fooled by them. ^_^
I’m torn between Aruru or Tamaki. Heck, just go with Utawarerumono, since it’s cute.

I’ll probably be closing this poll sometime tomorrow evening, standard win-by-2 rules. Will Ouran go wire to wire, or will Suzumiya be finally mount a comeback at the last second?!
Of course there is also the possibility that one of the darkhorses will mount an amazing comeback, although Nana is probably out of striking distance at this point.
