I’ve been taking it pretty easy again this month, and haven’t even gotten into the backlog as I had planned. Blame it on World of Warcraft and Battlefield 2.
Top Five This Month:
Binchou-tan: This is such a bittersweet series! I can’t even handle the roller coaster of emotions I have when I watch this show, as I laugh at Binchou-tan’s misfortunes and then feel horrible pangs of guilt afterwards. I mean, if they displayed on the bottom of every episode a URL or phone number you could call to help Binchou-tan… wouldn’t you feel bad about not calling/surfing over?
Fate/Stay Night: In spite of the mad slow pacing and complete lack of Saber-time, I’ve really been enjoying myself. The characters are being built up nicely, and each of them really seems to have a mysterious past and several layers of motivation. This is also one of those types of shows that lends itself to lots of parody and good-natured ribbing.
Shakugan no Shana: Do you apply to be a Flame Haze Helper through a temp agency? How does this work? It seems like pretty good work if you can get it.
Gun X Sword: Jason’s comments about this make me laugh (Shinn/Mai contortions are always good for a cheap laugh). I really need to get back to blogging Gun X Sword, as it’s been kicking up with the last few episodes. Every time I see Clawed Man, I want to dip him into a vat of moisturizer…
Mai Otome: Eh, why not. It’s been a weak month, so Mai Otome sneaks in despite even reusing the Natsuki hitchhiking joke. If they would just start making blatant references to last season (a la Jubei-chan 2), I wouldn’t have such a problem with this series.
Rising:
Ergo Proxy: The pedigree, the art, the production quality… I’m pretty excited about this one. They certainly set a high standard with the first episode.
Falling:
Patience with Emiya Shirou: Or should I call him by his real name… Emiya MIAKA!!! *dun dun dun* Oops, forgot the spoiler tag.
Trap:
Magikano: Ender and several other bloggers seem to be admitting that they enjoy this harem fluff. I watched the first episode and was not terribly impressed, although the character designs were ok. Is this worth pursuing?
