Not much in terms of plot advancement actually occurs in these two eps, so I have grouped them together. Ep 47 is a look at Meer’s past, which apparently consists of almost all recaps. Kira and company find Meer’s computer disk with her diary on it, and they eagerly dig into her not-so-sordid past. Not much is revealed that we didn’t already know, but we do get to hear Meer’s voice narrating her diary entries, giving a different perspective on her life. Turns out she was just really excited and happy to be Lacus, to meet Athrun, etc., and that she was a decent person inside. Athrun is stricken with grief and leaves with Kira in the middle of the episode, but luckily Lacus and Meyrin eagerly take over their seats and eat up Meer’s tell-all-entries. A sad ending for one of the most beloved (and most flamed) characters in GSD. I wasn’t too thrilled about Meer at first, but she became a total scene stealer. By forcing Athrun into many hilarious and awkward situations, she earned a place in the hearts of fans everywhere. But one question yet remains: Are those real?
Episode 48 was fairly lackluster, but had an awesome chibi sequence
After seeing so many chibi GSD comics, it’s about time that the producers integrated some SD goodness into the actual series. Of special note is that after the chibi Chairman sequence, the main screen of the Archangel shows what happens to Jibril afterwards! Priceless. As for the actual point of the episode, Dullindal announces the start of the Destiny plan, and uses the captured Requiem to destroy the remaining Earth Alliance forces on the moon. In the political arena, Orb and an unnamed Scandinavian country are the only ones who outright refuse to comply with the Destiny plan (apparently those Scandinavians just aren’t important enough to warrant a country name!). Meanwhile, back on the Minerva, Rey continues his evil machinations and gives Shinn his most blistering indoctrination speech yet. Apparently the Destiny Gundam is somehow critical to the Destiny Plan (Dullindal is a master of subtlety….), and Rey wants to make sure Shinn is supporting the chairman when the time comes. The Chairman is always right! Trust in the Chairman! What a load of BS. You know what the chairman really needs? A giant brown helmet.

Hey. Just because you get called a “chairperson” doesn’t mean that you have to wear some weird bucket on your head.
Besides: His voice-over voiced the same guy who tried to gut Earth with large chunks of Axis. What did you expect?
I was hoping that there would be a lot of fighting in the last few episode like in seed, but that dosen’t seem to happen.Episode 49 seems to be about Rey.I hope the ending wont be lame.
yea this 2 eps r kinda boring but im just waiting for the next one. its called ‘rey’. i think he finally bites the dust and kira and shinn have their long awaited fight(cant wait tillit comes out)
I wanted to see the new freedom and justice pused to it’s limits like in seed. Those two new gundams really dosen’t get enough screening time.Specialy justice.I still havent seen its full capibility yet.But it seems inferior to freedom though.
I reckon Athrun Zala is going to die. Considering he’s reputation of self-destruct all the gundams that he had. Aegis and Justice. So he will probably blow up Infinite Justice as well to destroy Requiem. The ending of ep 48 was very war like. Eternal with a whole lot of ZAFT spaceships. Archangel leading a whole lot of Izumos and a Kusanagi. So this is the full force of Three ships alliance.
You know if you think about it Kira likes to fly into battle like super man,out of the sky and Athrun likes to blow up his gundam and defect from zaft.A new powerful beam weapon need to be destroyed.Orb attacked again.New gundam get stolen in the first episode.A lot of Gundam seed destiny is like gundam seed. It’s like watching gundam seed again with a few changes.I was hopeing for something new and original when gundam seed destiny first arrived. It’s like they can’t think of something new. I’m somewhat disapointed with this serie. But Athuran sure has a suicidal tendensi.
> apparently those Scandinavians just aren’t important enough to warrant a country name!
Sorry, this is late and pedantic but apparently the GS/GSD world doesn’t use specific countries. There seems to be a significant influence from Orwell’s 1984 here with the Atlantic Alliance (Oceania in 1984), Eurasia and East Asia as well as an additional bunch of similar regional-type entities. Interesting summary here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth_Alliance_%28Gundam%29
there are lots of infomation about gundam in wikipedia.Lots of good stuff there.
Just watched episode 49 in Japanese. It is awesome. But pretty much the same as Seed’s ending but a lot darker and messier. Looks like Dullindal has both Requiem and Genesis. Meteor is developed as well. It looks like that not only Akatsuki is capable of reflecting beams off itself it can also make beams reflect off other things as well. An awesome gundam. Minerva is just no match for both Archangel and Eternal.
Has anyone noticed how the rom durandull is a lot like the one from star wars.Hell the beginning of episode 49 ,looks like a scene from the return of the jedi. The whole ending starts to look like star wars.
i watched gundam sd 49 already, i’m so glad that yzak had reallized that stupid destiny plan was a piece of junk!!
actually, i think then gundam seed was way better than gundam sd, i love the sd because i love seed…………..
Dullindal, and shinn Azuka, go to the hell !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hate them sooooooooooooo much especially shinn Azuka.
