Yamato’s still getting the cold shoulder, but hopes to change Suzuka’s perception of him with a good time in the 100 meter dash. While admiring Yamato’s sporty bod, Miki mentions that the city tournaments are coming up and that men’s short distance is really competitive. The rest of the team’s pretty fast, mostly running in the 11-second range, but Yamato is able to finish in an amazing 10.98 seconds, because he is so afraid of looking foolish in front of Suzuka. Suzuka watches the whole thing, even transposing Yamato’s image with Photo Guy’s, and gets pretty bummed out by the whole thing.
Yamato qualifies for the tournament, and the captain praises Miyamoto for pimping out Suzuka in order to get the team a super fast sprinter and a submissive manager. Yamato finds that Suzuka is no longer impressed with his running prowess, and gets really mad when he hears Suzuka talking to Miyamoto about visiting some guy named Tsuda Kazuki (who Yamato is supposedly very similar to). Suzuka says she just has to go home to see him, and Yamato stews around in a jealous rage until figuring out that Kazuki == Photo Guy. He then has Miho grab him Suzuka’s home address and sprints to the station to go stalk her some more.
A second good episode with decent animation! It looks like at last we may unravel the mystery of Photo Guy and Suzuka’s uber-moodiness. I mean, check out how she treated that frog; one moment she is cuddling it and the next she is slamming its face into the wall. That was a good scene, however, because it showed Suzuka in denial and so distraught that she only remembered to remove one sock. Meanwhile, Yamato is now fully into stalker territory, as he rushes off to ruin Suzuka’s day off… what a creep! I think it’s hilarious how Miyamoto called Yamato a “mood maker”.
The long hair vs. unbuttoned shirt squabble was fun, and Miki’s a great character. Was she really lusting after Yamato’s hot body?
