Naruto 143

Continuing on from the last episode, Mizuki and the Stupid Brothers manage to escape off the prison island as Asuma and Kurenai are being attacked by the various prisoners, but fortunately, the medic team comes by the island in time to patch up Asuma and Kurenai and take them back to Konoha’s hospital. Tsunade comes by the hospital to visit the 2 and apologize for sending them out so suddenly. Naruto comes rushing later to complain to Tsunade for not asking for his help in the manner, but Tsunade quickly tells Naruto that he probably couldn’t do much if he had to confront Orochimaru, and she also reminds him that he should probably stay around to help with Konoha’s rebuilding. Unfortunately, Naruto is quick to forget Tsunade’s words as Ton-ton comes rushing to Tsunade with news that Shizune’s group, which was sent out to track down prisoners, had been ambushed, which quickly prompted Naruto to have Ton-ton lead him to Shizune’s group for clues to pursuing Orochimaru.

Meanwhile, Mizuki and the brothers took some refuge with Tsubaki, who probably was one of Mizuki’s old girlfriends. Although Tsubaki welcomed Mizuki to her house, she pleaded with him to stop working for Orochimaru by recalling the destruction that Orochimaru had brought upon Konoha. Mizuki shrugged off Tsubaki’s pleas, but when she finally mentioned how Naruto had helped Konoha fight back, Mizuki’s blood began to boil as he remembers back to how Naruto beat him up rather easily in Episode 1, and he decides that he needs to pay back Naruto for whatever pain he put him through.

While Ton-ton and Naruto are out in the forests of Konoha, Naruto meets up with Iruka and Pakkun, who both were sent out by Kakashi to help keep Naruto out of any trouble. After telling Ton-ton to head back to Konoha, Pakkun follows the prisoner scent and leads Naruto and Iruka to Shizune’s body. However, most viewers could probably see this coming a mile away as Shizune was really Mizuki using Henge to lead Naruto and the gang into a trap. After revealing himself, Mizuki attacks Iruka while the Stupid Brothers are left to deal with Naruto. Kage Bushin action ensues, and Naruto quickly realizes once again that pure numbers will not defeat the enemy.

Again, the filler wasn’t anything too spectacular, and the animation team seemed to have fallen asleep in some of the running action scenes.

Mizuki is now buff??! This filler is outrageous!

FWIW, I’d like to see a Mizuki vs Iruka fight. And Naruto not interfere. Onwards to steroids vs genjutsu!

Don’t all criminals get all ripped in jail? Not like you have that much else to do…

Can’t believe Mizuki has been branded with the Mark of Death. And what was up with all the abrupt fadeout cuts?

Yeah I noticed the overuse of fadeouts as well. It made the episode seem too choppy.

i know that this is only a filler episode but the quality of naruto apart from a very few key episodes seems to be degrading rapidly. Compared to those you can’t help but notice the 80’s era animation quality. Japan is well known for their quality control and pride in workmanship so why can’t they apply it to Naruto as well….or have they shipped it all out to Korea already. :P Nowadays, i’m feeling less and less inclined to watch naruto, prefer bleach instead. When they finally slaughter the goose that lays the golden eggs, they only gonna find a whole lot of pissed off fans.

After seeing this episode I agree that the animation is inconsistent. The fillers are making it worse. People who really like this anime have a very low standard. I wish they would pay more money to Korean animators to keep the quality high.
