Bleach 36

Just when Ichigo and the gang thought it was safe to approach the Shrine of Penitence, down comes a huge spirit force that engulfs the air around them and drags down their movements. Ichigo senses the grave danger in the spirit force and tells Ganju and Hanatarou to run away with him, but Hanatarou’s energy is seemingly sapped away by the spirit force, forcing Ganju and Ichigo to stop in their tracks. Ichigo scans the area to determine the source of the spirit force, and he eventually does find it, but with the feeling of a virtual sword going through his chest. As he turns around, Ichigo finally meets face to face with Kenpachi, who had been eagerly searching around the Court of Pure Souls to fight with Ichigo. Sensing the strength of Kenpachi, Ichigo screams to Ganju and tells him to take Hanatarou off to safety and rescue Rukia while he deals with Kenpachi. Ganju is hesitant at first, but he realizes the magnitude of the situation and runs off accordingly with Hanatarou on his back. Kenpachi gives Ichigo a free shot at his body, and Ichigo takes with a great swing but does no damage to Kenbachi’s body. However, he finds his hand bleeding at the shaft of his soul slayer. Kenpachi talks some smack about how the spirit power he emits unconsciously is more than the spirit power contained in Ichigo’s soul slayer, and Kenpachi decides to get more serious as he draws his own sword…

Meanwhile, Rangika approaching Hinamori, who has been imprisoned for the moment, and tries to calm her anger down and remind her about the responsibilities of being a Lieutenant and the trouble that her squad is under now that Aizen is dead and she is in prison. However, Rangika does hand Hinamori a letter from Aizen that he wrote prior to his death, and apparently she finds some shocking details to what’s been going on with the Death God leaders.

Man, it looks like Ichigo is in deep deep trouble if he can’t do any damage to Ken’s body :(

I tell ya, they make these “Captains” so powerful. It was a good episode.

Kenpachi’s my favorite captain (barely beating out the one with the grumpy flower-petal dumping assistant) because of the hilarious interplay between him and his pint-sized sidekick. “Are you sure we’re going the right way”?
