Yakitate Japan 14-15

With Kazuma making it to the next round, it’s Kawachi’s turn to tackle the melon bread challenge. Armed now with the Solar Gauntlets, Kawachi felt confident that he could dispatch the aged Motohashi Yuuko rather easily. However, Ken proclaimed that Yuuko was some sort of champion of all Japanese School lunches, and she had the infamous OMGWTFBBQ “Mother Hands” to back her up, which causes Kawachi to take a step back and re-evaluate his approach. However, despite Ken’s hype of Yuuko, it only served as a lesson to Kawachi to not take anyone in the competition lightly no matter how they seem, and Kawachi passed with his pie-crust melon bread rather easily.

With the melon bake-off coming to a close, Ryou begins to mention the next challenge for the upcoming round: to create a Yakisoba Bread! However, the twist in this competition is that the bakers do not have to create the bread themselves; they have to create the Yakisoba noodle filling! Unfortunately for Kazuma, although he’s god-like when it comes to creating bread, he’s all thumbs in the kitchen when it comes to preparing normal foods and dishes. To add more pressure, Tsukino signed a contract with Mizuno to have the winner of the Kazuma/Koala matchup be the deciding factor of who will be the successor to the Pantasia group. Lastly, Kazuma is faced off with Spencer Henly Hokou (S.H.H.), who has a reputation for creating a unique and delicious Yakisoba bread. It seems that all hope is lost for Kazuma as it looks as if he’ll be eliminated before getting to match up with Koala. Fortunately, Ken knows of the perfect person to help Kazuma and Kawachi: Ryuu Ryomen, the famous noodle maker/exuberant assassin :P Kawachi didn’t seem to need as much help as he had prepared many dinners for his younger siblings, but Kazuma seemed to need a lot of help as he dumped his first batch of noodles on top of his head.

Since Kawachi’s group went first, it gave Kazuma some extra time to prepare for the cook-off. Kawachi, with some ingenuity, prepared his Yakisoba in a shape of a hot dog, and as you can see, it got some hot reviews from Ryou as a result :) However, it seemed as if Kazuma wouldn’t be able to win just on making the Yakisoba alone, but Kawachi stepped up to the plate and managed to provide a solution to Kazuma’s problem to make up for his cooking deficiencies. As viewers will see later, the reactions in the cook-off between Kazuma and S.S.H. by Ryou are rather “interesting” to say the least.

It was strange to see Kazuma be frustrated for once in the competition, but this episode also reinforces the close bond that Kawachi and Kazuma have between them. Hopefully, Koala will be unmasked later in the next once Kazuma kicks his furry butt :P

On a side note, Yakitate is my sister’s fav title of the season, so it’s kind of sad that the subs are coming out so slow . . . need…more…Kurunagi…reactions ^^

Yeah, I wish they would come out with fansubs a lot faster too. Maybe they need to spend a lot of time to research all the sidenotes for the puns :P

Make sure you watch the “next episode preview” for a devilishly BAD pun! You’ll want to bang your head against a brick wall after hearing it :)
