Director Mashiro is called to some special meeting, Mai makes it to class, and everyone’s happy. Except maybe Tate, who’s stuck being nice to Shiho in the hospital because he sucks and he ditched her. Midori convinces everyone that it’d be safer if they all team up and form some bizarre HiME-sentai group. To promote team unity, they go to karaoke, and everyone gets a turn (even Nagi who caterwauls on the roof). Everything’s looking peachy when Mai finally gets to cosplay as a policewoman and sing her heart out, but then Nagi ruins it by telling them that they’ll have to fight each other’s CHILDs next. Meanwhile, Takumi spills soup on Akira and then walks in on her changing. ZOMG, that’s not a man, baby! Now she has to kill him.
I’m glad the director made sure we knew that karaoke + beer = shoujo ai depravity. It’s really the dark side of Japanese society. I like how Mai just strode into class like nothing was wrong. Not even Nancy-ROD effects from being in space. Karaoke was funny, and I am getting truly annoyed with Tate, Shiho, Mikoto, and Sister Yukariko. Natsuki does not sing very well, but Mai was pretty good. I predict that this whole Nagi HiME v. HiME thing will just blow over, and in the end they will reject Nagi’s whole speech and just team up against the star (which is probably just a spaceship). I mean, look what they did with Mai’s whole kamikaze attack in space. My other prediction is that Akane will wake up and discover that Kazu is still alive and is going out with the captain of the swim team, who used to be Akane’s best friend, and there will be lots of angst before Akane snaps out of it and writes a children’s book. Wait, I’m getting my series mixed up again…
If Akira were a skilled ninja, that soup would have just landed on a log. Henge! Kawarimi no Jutsu!
I didn’t realize that Chiba Saeko plays both Azmaria and Natsuki… talk about a difference in voices! Either she had someone else sing as Azmaria, or she was purposely sounding awful during the karaoke scene. Yukino’s VA plays Yukinari in Girls Bravo, lol.

Chiba Saeko has released a couple of albums I believe, with Yuki Kajiura as her composer of choice, much like the whole Maaya Sakamoto/Yoko Kanno connection. She sang the end theme to Chrno Crusade, Narue no Sekai etc.
So yes, she’s faking it in Mai-HiME!
