On a completely random sidenote, I thought I’d ask y’all what you think about the news that James Cameron is going to be directing an adaptation of Battle Angel Gunnm. Being a Battle Angel fan, I’m curious how it will turn out, but apprehensive as well. Although Cameron has a pretty good pedigree (Titanic and Terminator 2 being his most well known works), he’s been noticeably absent from Hollywood for many years. Personally I think the crazy stress and subsequent success from Titanic made him go nuts, and I’m not really sure how this new endeavor will turn out. Apparently they’re making Gally a completely CGI character, which undoubtedly is a huge cash drain. Given Cameron’s penchant for sending production costs through the roof, I’m not completely surprised at this design choice, but I’m hoping it won’t go the way of the ill-fated Final Fantasy movie.

Whoa, that is *incredibly* awesome news! I don’t think that there’s a director that would be more qualified to direct Battle Angel, given Cameron’s strong grounding in combat cyborgs (T1000) and torrid angst (Titanic). Now, if they cast Lawrence Fishburne as the protagonist . . . that would be perfect
