I’ve been pretty busy with research and schoolwork, and combined with my inability to login to Seaslugs! from home, I haven’t been posting much at all
I have, however, managed to keep up with the latest stuff
Ender’s Picks for November:
1. Gundam Seed Destiny - It’s…so much better than the first one! Lately, the episodes have revved up into high gear and are kicking ass. However, a viewing of the complete first season are a must to completely appreciate it. David, you have to get your hands on the first series, regardless of how mediocre it was!
2. Tsukuyomi: Moon Phase - I find the intro to be cute, but ridiculously so (to the point that I am actually annoyed by it). What’s with all the lolicon fanservice??!! The show itself, however, is superb. Beautiful animation, likeable characters, and an engaging plot propel this one to the top 5. Neko mimi mode!
3. School Rumble - I can’t help it – the show’s peculiar humor and wacky characters totally click with me. It’s also got one of my favorite endings this season, “Onna no ko Otoko no ko”. Go vote for it at Matthew’s blog!!
4. Gankutsuou – It’s super-duper stylish, and The Count of Monte Cristo is an awesome book ^^. If you haven’t read it though, I don’t think you’ll enjoy it quite as much
5. Kannaduki no Miko – Yes, as absurd as this anime is, I still watch it. Episode 8 roxxored my soxxors, so I had to put it up here.
Potential Contenders:
Kaleido Star- Had a truly excellent recent episode, involving cosplaying as soda machines/palm trees/trashcans, a bank heist, and a marriage proposal. Unfortunately, subbing has been slow, and I can’t really rank it based on one really really really good episode.
Fantastic Children - It has that oldskool heart in it, trading in flash and style for real substance.
Naruto – Finally back on track, with the expensive animation and return to the manga storyline.
Rozen Maiden - I’m not as big a fan as Kabitzin, but it’s quite amusing. The opening by Ali Project captures the gothic-lolita feel with its wailing banshee lyrics.

btw, the school rumble ED PV is up on hongfire to d/l. I have to admit, the singer is pretty cute ^_^
oops, forgot to mention that Akane Maniax OVA 1 subbed came out today! Finally, Akane gets some screen time since she got like screwed over in KgNE.
Goodness gracious, run for the hills! It’s more KimiNozo? I hope this one doesn’t send Kabitzin into a spiral of depression like the first one did.
OMG there is an Akane Maniax KgNE OVA?!?!?!?! Double Depression Get!
And by “wailing banshee lyrics,” do you mean “crappy wish it were like Noir, but unfortunately it’s more like Avenger” lyrics? I swear I listen to that OP and think about how good it could be if someone else sang it…
Akane Maniax is very…different from Kiminozo.
Yeesh, yeah I just watched Akane Maniax and it looks like they turned it into a spoof or something. There’s an occasional flash of KimiNozo angst, but aside from that it’s rather….goofy.
Okay, folks … imagine Bakayuki from KimiNozo. Now, think of the exact and total opposite of him, and you have Gouda Jyouji, the “hero” of Akane Maniax.
Then, imagine the angsty drama nature of KimiNozo. Now, think of the exact and total opposite of it, and you have Akane Maniax.
Akane stays the same, but the rest is UTTERLY different. It’s comedy with _extreme_ silliness based on a little Gaiden game. Expect KimiNozo and be utterly disappointed. Look forward to some lighthearted nonsense while KimiNozo characters have cameo appearances, and you’ll be happy.
I was able to enjoy it
oops.. thought folks knew Akane Maniax was light-heartened if anything else. I have the game somewhere, and tried playing a bit of it…. kind of hard when you can’t read any of the characters XD
Still have to watch it subbed, but when I was watching the raw I enjoyed it all the same. Plus Tomokazu Seki as Gouda was a great choice! Funny watching him as a oddball character.. hehe
What the hell is this!??!?! *horrified*
haha, Kabitzin still watched it even after all the warnings
Sacrilege! How could Fantastic Children NOT be in your top 5?!!?!?1/1
It’s a pity you couldn’t access the blog much because I was waiting and waiting for blog entries on GSD. Now who the hell else is blogging this show?
*cough* me *cough*
blogged gsd ep 5-7.
