Ichigo wakes up the next day (with some hilarious help from his father :P) and strangely find neither Karin or Yuzu recall the Hollow crashing through their house and attacking everyone. According to other witness’ accounts, a truck had crashed through Ichigo’s house but the truck and driver had escaped. Despite the disruption, Ichigo didn’t seem to think twice about it too much and headed to school.
However, once Ichigo got to class, he found himself face to face with Rukia, who has found a temporary body for herself to “recharge” her Soul Reaper powers. She also tells Ichigo that because he took most of her powers, he must take her Soul Reaper responsibilities while she is recovering. Ichigo seems to resent this idea, but with her magical skull glove, Rukia magically decouples Ichigo from his real body with a punch, leaving Ichigo no choice but to serve out Rukia’s duties.
Meanwhile, we’re also introduced to a couple of Ichigo’s schoolmates, most notably Inoue Orihime, who had her brother die while trying to be resuscitated by the medical team working under Ichigo’s father. Orihime seems to be the typical airheaded girl (no offense to female readers :P) who’s nervous being around boys and just seems wishy washy going about her life. Her friend Tutsuki goes out of her way to make sure she’s eating properly since Orihime prepares the strangest meals for herself (when’s the last time you had fish-shaped sweetbean bread and raman with wasabi and honey :P). However, the lost soul of Orihime’s brother still lingers around Orihime, and views soon find out that lost souls who get devoured by Hollows become Hollows themselves. Later, the Hollow of Orihime’s brother goes after Ichigo, but whether it’s for revenge or not remains to be seen.
This is a pretty good second episode to keep the series going. Although there is a lot of talk between Ichigo and Rukia about the business of the Soul Reaper, there’s enough wackiness dusted here and there to keep the series moving
However, I’m still debating whether to keep the Lunar or ANBU translations. I think ANBU does a better job of translating, but you gotta love Lunar for referring to Ichigo and Rukia as DEATH GODS!!!!

Right on, Kungfucius! ‘Cause when it comes down to it, ‘Soul Reaper’ doesn’t cut the mustard!
