Heh, I probably shouldn’t call this a “progress” sheet…more like a “barely hanging on” sheet. Seems like the first year of grad school is some tuff stuff, and it’s really sucking the life outta me like a face-hugger. Anyways, I’ve managed to snag a few eps here and there.
This month’s winners:
1. Full Metal Alchemist: ’nuff said.
2. 2×2=Shinobuden: Kibun wa itsumo guruguru!!!!! Shinobu desu~!!!!
3. Sokyuu no Fafner: Surprisingly enough, I find myself drawn to this deeply depressing series the more I watch. I’m getting total Infinite Ryvius vibes, which is always a good thing.
4. Samurai Champloo: Actually is getting much better! But I’ve heard that there are only 17 episodes. Say it ain’t so :(.
5. Otogizoushi: After a short dip into mediocrity, the latest episode put things back on the track of awesomeness.
Regrets: Still haven’t touched Kurau, Maria-sama: Haru, Samurai 7, Monster, and a bunch more great series (;_;). Madlax is still hanging on…will EVERYONE die in this series? And where is Kaleido Star???
Random Thought: For those of you who are following Otogizoushi and are avid gamers as well, you might recall a nifty action game released a while ago called Otogi. Check out the description of the sequel, Otogi 2: Immortal Warriors. Alternate Japan, Heian period, and our resident ugly-ass-faced Abe no Seimei. Hmmm…
Random Thought #2: For the gamers out there, I’ve been tempted to snag either Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War or the new Rome: Total War. And Star Wars: Battleground simply resonates with my inner SW fanboy. Arggg, so many good games, no time to play them. What is this world coming to?
Random Thought #3: Madlax, though somewhat lacking in certain areas, excels in the soundtrack area (typical of Bee Train productions…). Go Yuki Kajiura! Surprisingly enough, I like 2×2=Shinobuden’s extremely goofy and lighthearted soundtrack just as much

I strongly doubt that there will only be 17 eps of Champloo (also one of my favourites this season, and it has Kawasumi Ayakao ^_^).
for some reason it’s TV station will only show it until ep 17. didn’t Bebop switch after ep 13 as well? so the question is, who will broadcast the rest of them.
There will be more than 17 eps of Samurai Champloo. According to ANN: Meanwhile, the Haetana message board reports that Fuji TV will be dropping its broadcast of Samurai Champloo after it airs episode 17 on September 9th. The entire 26 episodes will be broadcast on BS Fuji (BS Digital Satellite) where it airs on Sunday nights at midnight. The cancellation of Samurai Champloo on Fuji TV has not yet been confirmed.
Was Samcham simply not attracting enough viewers?
I thought face huggers deposited eggs for aliens that burst out of your chest, as opposed to sucking the life out of you… Is the analogy still valid?
Ha, it’s funny that you bring up Warhammer and Rome — according to the chief editor of Gamespot, both games (along with Kohan II: Kings of War) were released on the *same* day, Sept. 21. As for me, I’m truly pathetic at Command&Conquer-esque war simulations, so my inner SW fan is going straight for Star Wars Battleground, despite the reviews calling it a lame Battlefield 1942 clone
And it’s good to see someone also watching Shinobuden! Onsakamaru is one of my favorite protagonists of this season (^_^)
Funny you mention DoW,because I followed that game from it’s announcement last year,to the open beta and racked up a huge post count increase trying to debate about balance issues lol. After all of that I’ve come to know the game pretty well, and I’ve even taken to becoming part news-person and part tech support in various forums(about five).I guess I’m just that much of a dedicated Relic Fanboy lol.
Anyways if you’re into MP Dawn of War should be a great buy for you.The action is fast and furious due to the nature of game, and in some of the modes like Take and Hold it can become a tense moment when you attempt to push the other guy out and take those Crit locations for the win while the timer is counting down to zero! The races have various playing styles, with SM being the “beginner” race ala Tabletop,Chaos being like SM(because they’re traitors after all!) but different enough to warrant a different playing style,Eldar is mico heavy, and Orks is “build as many boyz as you can!”.
The game is also very atmospheric with the gothic ruins and all, plus the Orks have the best voice acting that I’ve ever seen in a strat game. When you first hear “Sod off!” as a unit response you’ll practically die laughing I swear.
SP is merely ok,because of the fact that it’s only eleven missions, and Space Marines at that. The Plot is good though,if a bit open-ended,and while it lasts you’ll have quite a bit of fun with the missions. Therefore I recommend that you ask yourself what you’ll be playing either game for and make that decision there, because honestly those are both great games that appeal to different audiences.
To be honest I didn’t expect there to be any talking about DoW here.I come her mainly to escape from the tidal wave of Warhammer people that suddenly seem to have popped up on the internet. As a Long-time Relic fan who’s used to only a few people knowing about Relic games and foolishly expecting the same for DoW,us “old timers” are feeling more than a little overwhelmed.Nevertheless a sale is a sale, and I’m trying my best!
My dorm-mate bought Warhammer, and it bears an uncanny similarity to Starcraft. Case in point, the only viable maneuver with Orcs is . . . you guessed it, Zerg rush. kekekekeke
That’s because you’ve just managed to touch one of the pet peeves of the 430k population, which is that Xcraft games were originally supposed to be Warhammer games, but GW said no.I would think they’d be similiar in that regard :P
