Championship contender Shuumei beats the Mizuho girls’ team 86 to 50, but Moritaka uses the opportunity to further get on Aikawa’s good side. Aikawa teaches her some 3-pointah skillz, and is smitten by her cute looks without the ponytail. While Moritaka works on her long range shooting, the boys go on a bit of a road trip with their manager. To better prepare the boys for the regional tournament, the Mizuho coach has arranged for the team to practice with the Kanagawa prefecture champion Honmoku East. At first the Mizuho squad is shocked to learn that the Honmoku team is just a bunch of scrubs, but then the actual Honmoku starters show up, and it becomes clear why they were the prefecture champion last year. In spite of their goofy attitues, they’re very skilled, and they feature Kadomatsu (a Miura clone that also shoots 3-pointahs), Kusano (random little dude with ugly hair), Fujisawa (bland looking captain with a name similar to Fujiwara), Gen (goony gorilla-esque center), and Hoshina (long-haired star playa). They also worship Anzaki. Aikawa then schools Hoshina, and everyone is forced to look at Mizuho in a new light.
This was a pretty amusing episode overall, especially with the love-stricken engrish filled antics of Hoshina. I almost went nuts when he told Anzaki, “My name is Yuito Hoshina… you and me fall in love, baby.” Basketball engrish is good, but lovu lovu engrish is even better! Too bad it wasn’t enough to stop Aikawa from making him look completely foolish. I was a bit disappointed to find even more character clones, but I guess when your production values are at rock bottom, these sort of things can’t be helped. I really liked the Honmoku team, and look forward to seeing them cream the flawed Mizuho team in a future matchup. The only saving grace of the Mizuho team is that Aikawa has crazy skillz.

I just had to point out a mistake. n.n
The girl isn’t Mutsumi, she’s Mai. Moritaka Mai. Aikawa refers to her as Pony-chan. n.n
Good call, I got confused between the two during this post. I’ve tried to change all the mistakes.
Ah, always happy to be of assistance.
