The gang escapes Ukyo’s group, but not before Ukyo wounds Katsushiro with a crossbow bolt. Katsushiro takes it like a man, and finally Kanbei recognizes him as the fifth samurai in the group. Although the Shikimoribito seem neutral, and even vaguely helpful, they still do business with the Nobuseri. Apparently cells from Electricity Towers are in high demand, and can be traded for bundles of rice. The Shikimoribito allow several farmers to live in the cave in exchange for some lip-smackingly good yummy sap drink. In the village, Rikichi bonds with a woman named Honoka. Rikichi also reveals that he had to sell his wife to the Nobuseri in order to keep the village safe (OMG, they take your rice and your women…), which is why he hates the Nobuseri so much. Kanbei makes a promise to retrieve Rikichi’s wife, and Kikuchiyo sets off to tail the Nobuseri and win some honor for himself. Too bad it seems that Honoka is not as friendly as she first made herself out to be.
Wow, this series is just working wonderfully. The only bad thing is the long wait between episode 2-packs. I was impressed that in the future they have invented lizard-grams for sending messages. They’re like mooncakes in the old days, but so much less edible (in spite of Gorobei’s endorsement of lizard-eating)!

OMG, what’s with the nifty messengers in this series — first the pink tauntan, and now a lizard! You would expect a society with giant mecha to have email, but nooo . . .
OMG!!!!!!!! is that the episode wherein katsushiro was hurt??????? (what an unexpierienced person……… though i like him… hehehe)
yupp… i guess its the episode… know what… i like the combo/ combi. of kilara and katsushiro… totally… hahahaha… weird lizard grams…
