Samurai Champloo 10

Poor and destitute once again, the trio shacks up with a monk and gets food and board in exchange for house cleaning. Jin seems to be pretty used to dojo servitude, but Mugen chafes under the monk’s orders. He decides to try to earn a hefty 10 ryo by capturing a criminal instead. Apparently this outlaw has been roaming around slaying all the strongest fighters. That’s like a double bonus for Mugen, but when they finally meet Mugen finds himself overwhelmed. They schedule a rematch and Mugen is off to train. Meanwhile, the monk reveals that the outlaw, Shoryuu (the artist formerly known as Ukon) was once his student, but later went off and trained at another dojo. Although they don’t come out and say it, Shoryuu actually trained at the prestigious Capcom dojo and learned the dreaded “Sonic Boom”. Will Mugen’s training be enough to beat Guile Charlie Ukon Shoryuu?

Sure it was plotless again, but at least this episode was entertaining. The fight choreography was well done, and it was interesting to see Mugen doubt his abilities. Mugen is lucky that Shoryuu never mastered the Flash Kick, otherwise it could have been a match-ending finisher right there.
