Bakuretsu Tenshi 12

Jo and Takane have a little spat at the police department, before Sei shows up to bail Jo out. On the taxi ride back, Sei spots the logo that has become synonymous with “mutant brains” and has the taxi tail a truck. It’s a trap, but nothing that Jo can’t handle with help from a soda can (damn litterbugs!). Meanwhile, weirdo telephone man calls back, and a new terror is unleashed on Osaka as a large black cybot busts in and tears everything up. Predictably, Meg gets captured again, and Jango’s vacation gets cut short. It’s all a giant conspiracy to use mutant brains and cybots to destroy Osaka!

The BakuTen subbing has been fast and furious lately, and it’s not hard to see why. Following up strong behind last week’s awesome Masked Rider episode, episode 12 brings up the hot mecha-on-mecha action that David has been longing for. To make it even crazier, the aptly named Giantbot Gigantis can even do splits. That is just hot. Jo is on top of her game as she demonstrates wit (”Jo Curryrice”, hahahaha), and a really strong throwing arm. As icing on the cake, there’s treachery and even some misguided non-yuri lovu lovu.

I was a little surprised to see Meg actually break out that high-powered sniper rifle that she uses in the OP. I wasn’t too impressed with her performance though; she did no damage to the enemy cybot, and it isn’t hard to hit a close, stationary target that is the size of a building. It looks like this is going to be at least a 3 episode arc, and my head is spinning with questions. What the heck happened to Kyohei? Who is that random Osaka dude? And did that naked butt shot of Masked Rider cause Masa-yan to decide to throw his life away in a kamikaze attack on Giantbot Gigantis? I’m expecting episode 13 to come full force with lots and lots of robo/mutant brains. Looking forward to it!

*LOL* Did I really write “Waiting”? I meant “Fighting”, of course.
