Rinna’s kinda down because her father’s too busy… you know, saving the universe. However, when her mother tells her that they can have a party, Rinna is overjoyed that she will be able to have her family, friends, and the Biggu Fo together in the same room. All this excitement is a little dampened by the fact that simulations predict the Cosmic Fracture will destroy our solar system. That and Shima is still miffed and depressed about being unable to compete with Kouta in using the new DLS system. It’s interesting that while there is this whole air of doom with the Cosmic Fracture (only two months to prepare, and they had 189 years to prepare for the waves that turned out to be just symptoms of the Fracture), Shima’s problems with Kouta seem just as important.
How gross was that fast food sub bar that green-haired sensei (apparently his name is Shirogane Jinrae) was holding? I was also confused by the conversation between Leila-sensei and the nurse. They’re talking about flirty girls from the present and the past, and Leila holds up “Ren” as an example of a seductive girl that’s hard to deal with. But isn’t the nurse’s name Ren? What’s going on? Has Jinrae suddenly become a total stud after his experience at Ultima? Overall this episode was kinda mediocre, especially the conference part. The adults in this show (with the exception of the teachers and the nurse) are pretty boring, and the whole Rinna on the big screen combined with a slow clap after the speech thing was very cheesy. What I did like was all the subtle romantic twists that are popping up. Kouta asking Ayaka for romantic advice was a highlight, and I like the new kind Ayaka just as much as I liked the old conniving Ayaka. I’m getting weird shoujo-ai vibes between Ayaka and Yayoi, though.
