Kikuchiyo gets his head repaired and agrees to help out the peasants after they feed him. Idealistic Katsushiro joins up as well, although he is a bit upset that he gets rice while the peasants eat some kind of dirty water stuff. Unfortunately numba wan samurai Kanbei is feeling angsty since he believes that he’s just an empty shell that fights losing battles. Someone slap him quick! The gang’s troubles are magnified when spoiled girly-man Ukyo tries to kidnap Kirara to add her to his harem. Will Kirara succumb to Ukyo’s nanpa (“These flowers bloomed just for you. If you don’t accept them, the flowers will cry.”… omfg)? Will Kanbei snap out of it and succumb to the payment of rice and mochi? I absolutely can’t wait for the next episode!
The OP was ok, but I still like the music of the ED better. It was a little disappointing that most of the animation in the OP seems to be lifted from lame scenes from the first and second episode (they didn’t even pick the good ones!), but this is just a minor quibble. I am eager for Kirara to find the other four samurai so that we can get some Fushigi Yuugi + mecha samurai action going. I have a feeling that blondie (from the meeting) and scar man (who Kanbei spots in the crowd) may be next.

OMG, I just saw this episode — the whole thing with Kambei saving Kirara after she jumped was awesome! Honestly, you would think that the sword would get somewhat damaged after having that much friction, but hey, if a sword can slash through a spaceship (designed to re-enter the earth’s atmosphere), i don’t think it would be a problem. It would be pretty fun to calculuate the tensile strength / heat capacitance of the sword though (i.e. “Armor = 8 feet. 2-inch sword cuts through armor within .3 seconds. Solve for the velocity of sword, force required for action (F=ma),and heat transfer due to simple friction. Is Kambei human? Discuss.”)

FUNimation has just acquired the rights to this series for the United States. They announced this at their 10 AM panel at Anime Weekend Atlanta.
This means that ANBU will terminate production of this series and cease distribution. We urge all parties to do the same.

I can completely understand why you guys (more like girls, actually…) like Kuzo; quiet, strong, slick, fast, brave, but all the samurai have their ups and downs (if that made any sense…)
Katshiro- Teen who says he’s a samurai, goes on a bloody rampage while screaming bloody murder when in a fight, but has wits, will do anything to protect anyone (mostly Kirara) and is kind hearted.
Kambei- Almost a little too serious, not very enthusiastic (i can’t spell), no signs of fun in his voice or personality, but he’s fearless, powerful, and keeps a promise, no matter what it is.
Gorobe- Always puts his life on the line and seems to almost get high when his blood is shown (not a whole ocean of blood of coarse, like a few drops or something), but he’s a great guy altogether. He’s funny, laughes when times are tough which brings peoples spirits up, could be serious one time and be fun the next, and is amazing at bushido. (one of the better samurai)
Heihachi- If he had the choice, would slaughter any traitor in sight (that’s a BIG downside…), but is a friendly gentle hearted person, great with mechanics, skilled with a sword, and sticks to a job when is assigned one.
Shirogii- I don’t know much about him, so all I can say is this: Origionally wanted to give up being a samurai, but obviously couldn’t, great with his spear (weapon of choice), and is sarcastic but fun.
Kikuchiyo (favorite for last!)- Ok, straight forward: he’s got an IQ of a rock, has few skills with a sword, and is loud and (a little (or REALLY)) obnoxious, but what he lacks in common sense he makes up more in heart. He has tremendous strength, he’s really tall (and I mean REALLY TALL. Like, 8 feet tall!) and it takes alot more than just chopping off his head to kill him. He’s good with village children and though he acts like a 13-year old, he conforts anyone when they’re depressed and basically puts the comedy in the show.
