Maia meets up with her old friend from high school (the one that got accepted into the Ocean Agency), and feels somewhat like a loser since she failed to get in. In addition, working for the rough and tumble Neres Corp. isn’t exactly glamorous. Later, her friend’s car gets stolen; another casualty in a recent string of car thefts. The Neres crowd takes up the case, and as usual, take a twisty, roundabout, mishap-ridden path to the bottom of the matter. In the end, Maia starts rethinking her goals; does she really want to apply for the Ocean Agency again next year (as common sense would dictate), or should she stay with Neres? After all, she is becoming attached (in a strange sort of way) to the weirdos she currently works with.
