B Gata H Kei 09

So nice guy's don't finish last after all.

Summary:

After Kosuda’s confession, Yamada tries to avoid him as much as possible. However, a survey among the guys about the most popular girl turns fatal when Kosuda confesses his love for her in front of the whole class. They soon make up, however, in the reference room (which, if you remember, was where Yamada said her stomach hurt in the first episode). And thus, Yamada finally realizes it herself: she’s tragically in love with Kosuda.

THE CHOICE IS YOURS

To make things even more interesting, the athletic festival occurs. There, Yamada and Kanejou battle out who’s better and hotter on the shoulder battle (if that’s what it’s called). At first, Kanejou thinks she has won, but the “scavenger race” soon yields opposite results when Kanejou’s brother is used as the hot guy. Soon, all the girls are fawning over him; but only Yamada manages to catch his eye. The brother then proceeds to woo Yamada, but Yamada can see through him and walks off. In the end, Kosuda asks Yamada if he can ask her out on a date sometime, to which she [indirectly] says yes.

I'd pay to see that mud fight.

Reaction:

FINALLY! Kosuda has finally grown a pair and asked Yamada. I mean, really–how hard was it? He finally has gained the courage to consistently ask Yamada out on a date. Even though he needs advice from his peers (which is what any guy needs anyways), he manages to break free from the stereotypes of a complete coward. (That’s not to say, of course, that he isn’t subservient to Yamada at times.) At the same time, Yamada has become more accepting of her feelings: she realizes that she indeed does love Kosuda, yet at first doesn’t realize it because she believes in love as a noble ideal. She assumes that, when she’s in love, she’ll be much happier; yet she doesn’t realize that love comes with its ups and downs, as nothing is smooth sailing when it comes to love.

Kanejou's b-side move is deadly. O_O

As for humor, I really do think that the humor was excellent in this episode. The first part of the episode was the typical type of humor: slapstick with a few sex jokes here and there. However, nothing noteworthy really came forth in this first part, as it was mainly used for plot and character development (which, by my standards, is completely fine). The real meat came in the second part with the battle between Kanejou and Yamada. Although their feud is expected, Kanejou’s brother really completes the picture. I think that the funniest moment was when that little, flat girl was riding on the brother’s shoulders, but Kanejou uses her glare to shoot her to the moon. Oh, the hilarity.

I’ll be expecting a lot more plot and character development from the rest of the episodes from now on, as well as a spike in humor in episode 11 (two episodes from now).

I rest my case.

EVEN MORE GUYS NOW?! Damn, what a pimp.

I like slice-of-life and centralized romantic series, though it's nice to have some focused action.

when that little, flat girl

AHEM!?! That little, flat girl has a name ya know! And that would be Mami Misato (a sexy name if I do say so myself)! She’s pretty bangin’ in the funny-papers department (if you know what I mean), but I think that goes for all the side characters as well. The zany interactions with the classmates are B-Gata’s trump card

Damn, what a pimp.

A Diva is a female version of a hustler, little BonjourMotto. It’s the fact of life!

She may have her funny moments, but she seriously has no shame. Must admit, being zapped by a glare was pretty amusing in itself.

Didn’t really like the song too much, but Yamada’s little sister really needs her own title. Cuz this is insane, I’m wondering how she’s able to keep predators away. (Probably got some imperial guards protecting her or something!!

A lot of people have no shame these days, and that’s what makes it funny. Hehe. And the zapping glare was probably the best part of the episode. ‘Twas quite funny.

Considering the little sister’s size and appearance, it’s safe to say that all those guys are predators–or cradle-robbers, at the very least. ;)

Of course I know her name! But I would like to refer to her in the aforementioned way simply because the description is apt. ;)

And I’m sorry, she’s a Diva…but pimp sounds better. :P

lol one of my favorite episodes but once again you still haven’t found out the secret to Kanejou’s bro~bro. I agree with Jet, yamada’s sis needs her own theme song lol. If you read the manga you’d be amazed at her “God of Lust”… lmao she’s got it going, I don’t know how but she does!

What?! What’s the secret of the brother?! And yeah, she needs her own theme song. It’s kind of like Hiiragi in Hanamaru Kindergarten. She was such a boss, AND she had her own song. Kind of. Not really. XD

And I guess guys in Japan really do like little girls or something. >.>

Ah, I love the brother character. Not so much because he himself is inherently funny, but in my opinion, he is the direct catalyst of the funniest moments of the entire show.

You’ll see buddy, you’ll see.
