Summary:
What would The Fonz do?
In an incredibly stupid turn of events, nobody recognizes Kisame for several panels and when they finally make the connection they simply serve as batteries for Kisame. Killer Bee falls for Samehada’s sob story about being forced to serve Kisame, resulting in Samehada completely draining Killer Bee and powering up Kisame. Kisame then turns to the scrub ninja with Guy and says “Don’t taze me, bro” before sucking the scrub dry, too. As Kisame turns to escape, Killer Bee launches Guy into the air and Guy then double jumps with the help of his hapless turtle summon.
This is why you guys never get any screen time...
Guy arrives just in time to see Kisame putting a scroll of information in a summoned shark. We then get a ludicrous sequence where Kisame summons a bazillion sharks in a literal wave of sharks to confuse Guy, and Guy proceeds to punch each and every shark in the face with his Morning Peacock move. With that out of the way, both men decide to go for one large clash, as Guy opens the 7th chakra gate for his Afternoon Tiger blast and Kisame retaliates with a Giant Shark Missile.
Reaction:
Well… let’s start with the smart stuff first. I thought it was pretty neat how Yamato made a wooden splint for Naruto’s tweaked ankle, although it was the most simplistic splint ever. Aside from that, the rest of the chapter wallowed in machismo slop as the Konoha ninjas attempted to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. By handily recharging a weakened and drained Kisame, an easy win became a fight on Kisame’s own turf. I figure that even if Guy “wins” that Kisame will either escape or get the scroll off the island. Besides, even if Guy’s blast is more powerful, the backlash from the 7th Gate is going to be brutal.
I did really like the turtle summon, though.

Terrible, just terrible. I like how Yamato and Naruto could care less that he got away though.
You’d think in powered up fox mode that Naruto would be resilient enough to avoid spraining his ankle too…
I actually had generally high expectations for the Guy-Kisame battle…and they were totally shot to hell by this chapter. I still really want to see Naruto in his badass form, though.

This Chapter Rocks, how ironic as a Fastest Shinobi with Celestial gates technique but he summoned turtle instead….

The turtle actually fits Gai. Slow and steady wins the race. Train like a madman without shortcuts and you’ll succeed.
And the turtle was last summoned the first time we saw Gai, in the Chunin Exams. It literally has been years!
I wonder what the “Evening _____” animal attack will be.
At last the new chapter is out after a long break of a week!!
Naruto manga is as lively as ever!
I had totally forgotten Gai had a turtle Summoning (which we got to see once in the Chunin exam arc)
Gai has started his ass kicking show!
He’s opened 7 gates…and I have come to like him
He’s a lot cooler now than before…
Still its obvious that Kisame is Naruto’s prey…so Gai will fall in the end!
And we get to see Kisame’s super Water Shark Techniques!
Killer Bee is as hilarious as always
If Kisame manages to escape…our story will shift towards Sasuke-Madara-Kabuto..
It will be more interesting to know whats happening with them
Yeah, I forgot Guy could do any summons, too. It’s not like the turtle ever really does anything, though. I think Kisame will fight with Guy instead of Naruto, since those two are always paired against each other. Isn’t this their third fight now?
Yeah its their third battle…1st was in Naruto…Hunt for Itachi Arc where Kisame gets his butt kicked when Gai makes a cool entry (the time when Kakashi was peeing in his pants from Itachi’s Mangyeko Sharingan)…2nd was Shippuden Rescue Gaara Arc…where Gai opens six gates!
Now its the third show down!
Well I guessed Kisame would be Naruto’s prey because..Among the Akatsuki members…Naruto only defeated Kakuzu
Itachi…lost due to an “unknown” illness…in his fight with Sasuke
Deidara…pwned by Sasuke
Sasori…defeated by Chiyo-Sakura
Hidan…got his butt kicked by Shikamaru (I loved this battle the most!)
Pain…lets say self destruct ;P …okay in a way Naruto!
And my guess is Madara/Tobi will be pwned by Sasuke!
So I was thinking maybe Kisame must be Naruto’s prey…
Well on the other hand…he can be Gai’s prey too!

Next chapter’s gonna be too exciting
Lol all the good guys had their brains turned off during the first part of the chapter. Kishi really went out of his way to make the fight an even one on one.
You’d think Yamato could have formed a better splinter (like a wooden cast), but no…
Yeah that splint was BS, plus if Naruto goes fox mode the splint will sprout into a bush or something.
I love the whole ‘releasing gates’ thing that our favourite Bruce Lee imitator has got going but I’m not really fond of the animal themes. Kisame was cool when he was just a creepy shark-looking type of guy with awesome water magics. Now it turns out he’s pretty much only capable of pulling off shark related techniques. You start the wonder which awesome ninjutsu skills he refused to learn just because they didn’t have a shark theme.
Consensus seems to be that Guy’s gonna kick the bucket…I certainly don’t feel as if he’ll lose to Kisame. Either way, Guy won’t die before he opens the final gate…and when that occurs I expect him to be like completely invincible…Guy losing against Kisame while he’s in a fully released state would be far too cathartic.
On the other hand, it would be totally lol if Guy was like: “Holy shit! This ain’t working at all!” *checks to make sure Lee isn’t around* >> Unleashes ultra heavy Ninjutsu and Genjutsu and settles the match.
I liked Kisame better too before he became this cornball shark-wave DBZ wannabe, but I guess Guy just draws his opponents into his stupidity. I can just imagine Kisame when he was a genin and getting all the non-shark questions wrong on his quizzes… and thus becoming evil!
Guy unleashing Genjutsu without telling Rock would be the ultimate betrayal!
I just liked this chapter because of the Mario-Yoshi doublejump Gai pulled. Poor turtle.
I guess it could have been worse. Guy could have picked up the turtle shell and kicked it at Kisame
I got really confused by a few panels in this chapter. What exactly happened to eight tails and the sword? Something about someone’s chakra being drained and whatever, but the flow there was as crappy as Naruto’s rhymes.
Anyways, I always felt like Guy was a second tier shinobi, so I have mixed feelings about his possible victory over shark guy in the coming chapters.
