As I feared real life caught up with me for the last few weeks… I’m still not out of the woods yet but I thought I’d catch up on some blogging.
I wonder if she buys out the town's supply of hair gel every week
Summary:
"Are you an idiot? Bring her to a real hospital where she can get seen by a REAL doctor!"
After walking from school in the scorching heat, Natsuno is picked up by Torhu in his new ride (a 1990 Honda Civic no less!). Too young to have a real license, he’s being taught how to drive by the clinic nurse. On the way to drop everyone off, they run into Tamotsu and Masao also on their way home. There we learn that the super weird Masao hates Natsuno and refuses to get into the car with him. We go to a bit of a flashback and we learn how Torhu befriended Natsuno by fixing his blown bike wheel a few times, and we also learn about Masao’s home situation. Besides being a total freak, his family looks pretty normal and his sister in law is actually pretty cute, and so of course he hates her.
Meanwhile at the clinic, Nao (the girl dying from the previous episode) returns seemingly about to die. After yelling at her husband Mikiyasu for not bring her in earlier, Toshio orders a bunch of tests and lies to Mikiyasu that they will try everything they can to save her. As he questions Mikiyasu about his contacts to try and trace a possible pandemic outbreak, he tells Toshio of an event a few days ago when he and his family met up with the Kirishikis, the new guys who moved into the castle up the hill and how they invited them over to their house and that they had promised to return very soon.
I have photodermatitis... you know? Like Helmut Kohl's ex-wife
Meanwhile later that night Seishin meets Sunako, a strange girl who’s the daughter of the people who just moved into the castle and apparently a huge fan of Seishin’s books. She easily sees right through him and sees the scar where Seishin had tried to kill himself by slitting his wrists earlier. She tells him that she has a strange disease that does not allow her to venture off during the daytime, and that she will meet him again sometime in the future to get an autograph.
The next day we learn that Nao has died, and as Masao runs to Torhu’s house to spread the news, he runs into Natsuno who’s there too. Later that night as he’s going to buy a drink outside at the vending machine, Torhu runs into Tatsumi, the guy who looks like Wolverine from episode 1 who lives with the people who moved into the castle. Torhu invites him to hang out at his place sometime, and Tatsumi promises to return soon with a friend.
Reaction:
So first of all I need to rag on useless doctor-kun Toshio once again. So let’s see, the previous episode he tells a deadbed looking girl (Nao) to go home and come back if she’s feeling worse, and now it’s the HUSBAND’S FAULT that she is even more deathly? And then somehow he orders some expensive and complicated tests (ultrasound, CT scan) which take time, instead of just sending Nao off to a real hospital to GET A TRANSFUSION. And then he blatently lies to the husband that he’ll transfer her when he has no intention of doing so? I guess when your village is so small there’s no lawyers for them to sue you, you can do whatever you want.
Meanwhile we learn a bit more about the vampire (I can do that now right? It’s kind of obvious right?) Kirishiki family which has just moved into the mansion up the hill. It seems they are big fans of Seishin’s books, and walk around a lot at night, and that they have no pupils in their eyes. More to come later.

Um, if they had a blood bank for transfusions, the vampires would just order drive-thru instead of take-out. Also, those tests always yield the results on other TV shows, which is how Toshio was trained, I’m sure.
I loved how Masao raged against the 3rd grader and then went and busted the kids Lego house. I also admired Megumi’s stalking dedication.
The vampires could have gotten permission to enter houses a lot faster if they pretended to sell tupperware or pretended to give an award to the most friendly and welcoming family.
It’s true, TV doctors only know how to… TV doctor.
Ya I was still under the impression that this was some disease bought by the new neighbors. Guess my expectation were really off this time. I couldn’t put things together until episode 5, how embarrassing  . The nurse with the green hair has a very…unusual hair style. I’m surprised it doesn’t get in the way of work.
The only thing I’m still waiting to find out is if this is the result of multiple encounters, or the result of one
bite. You’ve been watching too much Higarashi. But really, you didn’t notice the bite marks that they kept focusing on?
Ya I thought maybe it was some animal that was transmitting the disease, silly me .
Higarashi is also one of my favorite anime, I think the reason why I started watching this show was because I wanted something Higarashi-like to fill the void in my heart when I finished Kai, and Rei. The search never ends!!
