Doesn't compute; the characters would all be mirror-flipped
Summary:
Hurray for the nameless goon!
Maya’s got Fumiaki’s phone and he gets a call on #5′s phone chastising him for letting a 1999 civilian get the simulator. However, it’s not like Maya uses it for anything and with that it’s on to half an episode of Kozue being stupid and trying to experience the occult. Kozue points to all sort of easily explained situations as being occult, and then reveals she is occult-obsessed because she hasn’t experienced the occult like everyone else.
Kozue conveniently sidesteps the issue of actually being in several occult experiences by saying she didn’t see the occurrences with her heart, or some other Le Petit Prince nonsense. This leads to Kozue to volunteer for the 3-minute hypothermia chamber in hopes of having a near-death experience. After flying around in a colorful, bubbly world, Kozue comes out with perfect vision and a lack of interest in the occult, but the Kozue on the mind screen seems like the same old Kozue. As this is all going on, we also get a side story about Mikaze trying to get approval to sell bread on campus to pay off her car loan, and Fumiaki trying to help her out as Chihiro watches in a sad rage.
Reaction:
Just cut the power cord so she can go berserk already
Kozue is my least favorite character, so I was completely bored this episode. A whole episode of desperate Kozue being retarded? Ugh… She’s been in more real occult situations than anyone else, but you just know she won’t be satisfied even after this latest one. I figure Kozue got switched with some mindscape body-snatcher, who is hell-bent on doubling Kozue’s screen time. Personally, I just kept hoping that Smile would suddenly show up and punch the stupid out of Kozue.
The only thing that kept me going through this episode was Chihiro. Watching her stalk Fumiaki’s life was pretty interesting, as stalking is totally in this year. I had that Excalibur face on through all the non-Chihiro scenes, but I wonder how she is gonna retaliate against the younger, equally-busty, non-dangoed Mikaze. In spite of how silly this episode was, the production values were still surprisingly excellent, with even little details drawn and animated. I wish we could find out what Chihiro’s goon’s name is!

The battle between Chihiro and Mikaze is shaping up to be an interesting one. Though I support Chihiro’s literary aspirations, I also support Mikaze’s efforts to peddle her melonpan to minors, as somebody has to give these kids a real education! The Kozue-centric nature of the episode didn’t do much for me either, but I’m hoping her flatliner doppelganger proves to be a delinquent party animal who wins the hearts of Maya and company, and they decide to keep her rather than rescue “real” boring Kozue.
Well I dont see this series…
I’m sure this is not the right place for this comment..
But its just a suggestion for you Kabitzin!
I felt that in your blog,you should include a post regarding “Readers’ feedback” or something like that….where any general post related to everyone’s opinions and suggestions can be put up!It can be once in a month or every fortnightly…
We dont get to see Epi’s blogging nowadays!
Its been ages since I’ve seen Kaicho wa Maid sama episode reviews….and the new anime Shiki (which I’m not seeing)…I used to see his reviews which I dont see nowadays!!
I think Epi mentioned in his last post that he’d be busy for a bit. Work > everything else i’m afraid. I can barely get down the gym, how on earth people find time to consistently blog is beyond me. Better time management I guess ;P
I wouldn’t be surprised if Maid-sama was dropped. The quality control varies too much for that series. While sometimes excellent some episodes are hard enough just to sit through. I’d personally recommend Hana’s episodic posts at THAT anime blog for your weekly maido fix
Epi’s been super-busy this month. I’m sure he’ll get back to Shiki, but not so sure about the status of KwM, for the reasons that fathomlessblue mentioned.
We are pondering some ideas to increase reader participation further, so hopefully we can get something off the ground in the near future!
@fathomlessblue
Ah I see…
Well actually Kaicho wa Maid sama is going really good recently!Earlier I thought too that its not that good…well…its everyone’s personal opinions!!
Thanks for the info though…
@Kabitzin
Yeah!I think by doing that…you can retain your regular readers and get more readers as well
Fumiaki and Mikaze are both too dumb to realize that lol. And even then it’s must easier to bring the paper to the head than the head to the paper on the floor.
This episode was just random, and not in a good way.
Haha when I watched this scene, I thought he should have put the paper on a pillar so he wouldn’t have to bend down, without even considering he could bring the paper to his head…
This was actually my fave episode since the first one so I guess we have different tastes. It’s not that I have any particular love of Kozue, she’s too much of a cliche clumsy meganekko to stand out in any way, I just thought the comedy was extremely well done and particularly enjoyed the relaxed pace. Perhaps i’ve become overexposed to K-on or something, but for this series I find the jokes work alot better than attempts at plot. Perhaps that will change.
And i’m sooo cheering for Chihiro as well. Maybe if Mikaze actually did something other than unnecessarily take up screentime…
I think Kozue might be my least favorite character, and I like her even less than Fumiaki. Of course this naturally rockets Smile up the list, for his first episode beatdown of Kozue.
My theory is that Mikaze needs to neutralize the student body in an after-lunch carb-coma so she can sneak into Maya’s office or spy on Fumiaki.
I was all for Chihiro stalking and her goon’s antics myself, that was quite fun. As for Kozue, from my perspective is that she’s having an out of body experience right? So someone else took over her body while she was out of it and she’s still stuck in limbo while whoever it is is walking around in her skins.
It reminds me of when someone in a team-based game disconnects and the computer takes over their character, actually.
exactly xD. Now putting Kozue on AI auto-control. Make sure she eats sleeps and poos correctly until she can “log-in” to her body again heh.
Kozue is your least fave character, eh… Understandable given her desperateness, I guess. But I must ask, have ya seen Mikaze? Actually, have ya heard her?? The woman is seriously creepy. Scamp also endorses this view. In fact, he reckons she’s actually a cyborg. But that would be a whole other blog.
