But canine-types usually respond so well to chin-stroking

Summary:

Liszt reports to Otogi Final Boss Lamp Aragami about how Onigashima High School is getting uppity and the lecherous rich old man Lamp decides to wait and see (if the Otogi Bank girls will provide “services” in exchange for a 3D TV). Later, sexy Disciplinary Committee member, Momoko Kibitsu, makes a deal with Otogi Bank for boots on the ground  for her invasion of Onigashima to deliver a warning to their new Student Council President.

The Otogi force gets separated and whittled down until Ryoko is left facing the President alone; Shiro Hitsujika, who sports a demonic fastest-in-the-flock sheep hairstyle, turns out to be an old flame who has done something unspeakably bad to Ryoko. Ryoshi, Liszt and Momo-chan-senpai arrive just in time to snap her out of her trauma. Momo delivers the message and Shiro feigns cooperativeness. Back in school, Ryoko accepts Ryoshi’s offer of support and while Liszt, Alice and Momo don’t believe Shiro, they feel they don’t have enough evidence to have him removed yet. Meanwhile Shiro plots something nasty (again) for Ryoko with his blonde Mai Nakahara-fuelled nine-tailed foxy squeeze.

Shinji Ikari has ruined anime characters looking at their right hands for me

I was plenty cheesed off by the high and mighty attitude of the Aragami/Otogi leadership towards Onigashima. Just wait till they get a proper leader to head a revolution that will break the shell of their elitist little egg world, like a Great Teacher Onizuka instead of sexual harassment Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing-kun. The social engineering of the city (which I cannot even be arsed to remember the name of) just compared so badly to Academy City of the Railgun universe; sure, the latter is far from perfect but it was really beautiful how Mikoto and Kuroko, elite students from the elite Tokiwadai, built – through many ups and downs – very warm and firm friendships with Kazari and Ruiko.

The Railgun comparison was foremost on my mind due to how Satomi Arai is the narrator in Ookami-san. And also because I have been looking forward to Yuko Aida as Momo-chan-senpai; she had played sexy Anti-Skill officer and teacher Aiho Yomikawa (jyan!). Aida first attracted my fanboydom as gloomy but deeply passionate Toru in Asura Cryin’ and then consolidated it with another ultra-sexy performance as Hanuki from Yojohan. And I could not be more pleased with Momo-chan-senpai’s outfit (which recalls Kaori Kanzaki) and her very open AC/DC interest in Ryoko, accentuated with Ryoko’s hilarious same arm/same leg forward march after getting caught at the school gate. I was also surprised at how combat capable her dog-monkey-pheasant trio were and how they dealt a triple combi blow, including a critical hit to the crown jewels, to a Onigashima student who also had the good taste to covet those peachy dumplings.

After a promising start, the series has not been faring well at all in my estimation. The over-arching conflict between Aragami/Otogi and Onigashima feels like unjust the way Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World did. The individual female characters are well designed and employ some stellar voice talent but feel underdeveloped. I don’t care much for the Ryoko x Ryoshi pairing – even though the latter shows increasing understanding of the former, the animal and hunting metaphors rub me the wrong way. Also not sure if the sheer unpleasantness of Shiro will end up making Ryoshi look good in comparison or just sour the whole mix. Will have to see how this tale unfolds.

I have a penchant for Bishoujo, Oneesama and Yuri character dynamics. Genre-wise I enjoy drama and satire; tilt-wise I am terribly weak against self-consciously arty farty styles and reference humour. Sieg Lunamaria!

The excitement is kind of dieing off for me as well. The start was promising but wasn’t really that strong either… felt they could have done much better for the Cinderella parody.

I actually liked the twist on the Cinderella story in contrast to the Hare and the Tortoise. And Black Lagoon’s Hansel and Gretel was so much better.

My favorite bit in this episode, besides Momo’s tormenting of Ryoko, was when Ringo let Ryoshi know that she wouldn’t be upset if Ryoko “discovered the joys of same-sex love” with Momo. Even though it appears that Ringo is willing to share, I enjoyed the confirmation that Little Red Riding Hood wants to eat the wolf in this case.

And this made me LOL:

Momo hitting on Ryoko was definitely the best part of the episode (followed by her use of the whip in combat). It’s even better because of how, when focused, her magnetic personality forces Ryoko to march up and render herself unto Momo’s sexual harassment.

Apple is evil and must be destroyed as it aims for complete domination over all life and technology on Earth but, in this case, I approve.

wrt Shinji, the difference here is that I’d be more than happy to shake Ryoko’s hand (and then not wash mine for a week).

The last time I did that with my puppy, she clamped down on my hand thinking it was some sort of wriggling toy. Luckily didn’t end up with a hand of gory. @@

Story has been a little lackluster so far but hopefully it’ll pick up with a proper BOSSU now thrown into the mix. And thank gawd for recurring characters like Momo-chan-senpai!

Oh and it’s amusing how Ringo seemingly approves of Ryoko hooking up with anyone as long as the other person treats her well and appreciates her charm points. ;P

Puppies seem to like to do that! And they tend to bite too hard if they haven’t had the experience of playing with their litter mates before. Apparently yelping in a loud and alarmed manner tells the puppy to go easy on you next time.

All hail Momo-chan-senpai! Good that to see that Ringo approves too. Would be fun if there was a chance of Momo vs Ryoshi rivalry over Ryoko.

So no mention of how Otohime extracts the impurities in Taro to put him in Gentleman Mode?

What was up with that flashback? It looked like Shiro was real nice to Ryoko only to force himself on her and then blab to all the other girls about how bad Ryoko was in bed and/or how Ryoko stuffs her bra or something. Obviously Ryoko should have extracted Shiro’s impurities to put Shiro in Gentleman Mode as well.

Frankly Otohime freaks me out. If she absorbs Taro’s impurities (and stores it up), what’s her capacity limit before she becomes like a completely impurity?

In the case of Ryoko x Shiro’s case, Sheep-kun must really have a thing for Ryoko since, not satisfied with his earlier conquest of her, he’s remotely stalking her via Onigashima flunkies. Ryoko should start learning recipes for roast lamb leg, grilled lamb chops and lamb’s head with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.

I assume she spits it out.
