Lolis always have right of way
Zyl is a bit busy this week, so in a fitting twist I’ll be paying off my loan by tackling this episode.
Summary:
What 'bout my star?
After a quick glimpse of an ashamed, (Rina-level) disguised Ryoko buying Yuki’s latest smutty romance, Heart-Throbbing Sensation Plus in a neighboring town, the story kicks off with Ryoshi deflecting a baseball away from Otsu’s face with his pachinko slingshot. Unfortunately, Otsu’s OCD need to pay back all debts immediately forces her to become Ryoshi’s personal maid, and this leads to many nights of Scopophobia-induced insomnia. Otogi Bank steps in to help Ryoshi, and Ryoko is amazed to find out that “Yuki” is actually the pen name of Ryoshi’s aunt, Murano Yukime.
The newer members learn that Otsu was once saved from a truck by a young boy, and was traumatized when he died from his wounds before she could repay him. When Otsu faints from being overworked, Ringo decides to end this OCD by putting Otsu deep in the red. The entire Otogi Bank dresses up as maids and force-pampers a pajama-wearing Otsu. Ringo tells Otsu she can never pay them back and must continue to be their indentured servant forever but that friends should not have to pay each other back. Otsu is deeply moved, and finally leaves so that Ryoshi can fap to his picture of maid-cosplay Ryoko in peace; however, when Ringo and Ryoko return home, they are surprised to find Otsu waiting to ambush and serve them. You gonna get repaid!
Reaction:
Ryoko is not turned on by this, unless she closes her eyes first
Apparently in Japan, there are only 3 acceptable ways to repay someone who saves your life:
- Date a Venusian and live under a bridge with her and a bunch of costumed weirdos
- Dress up as a maid and become his personal servant
- Eat Mapo Tofu, hack AngelPlayer, and rain on everyone’s parade in the Limbo waiting room until your savior shows up to be thanked
Personally, I think that story about the boy who saved Otsu is a load of BS. Didn’t they mention in an earlier episode that Otsu has a favor-returning fetish? Obviously that little pervert is trying to over-repay her debts, so that a whole bunch of people will be forced to simultaneously repay Otsu in an orgasmic frenzy, kukuku.
Alice in a maid outfit is so very mumumu, de arimasu. As for Ryoshi, don’t you think he’s using up all his best moves a little early? I understand he really wants Ryoko, but using Elizabeth and Francoise and getting Ryoko Yukime’s autograph are some big time maneuvers. I suppose he was rewarded with the sight of Ryoko in maid cosplay, and I found it ironic that only Ryoko’s maid outfit had a chest cutout (though the effect was… negligible). Speaking of negligible, the mention of Hansel and Gretel was just stupid. And how come Hansel and Gretel are incestuous in just about every anime series?

It might be one of my weird fancies, but for some reason I think that Ryoushi’s aunt and uncle are based on the story of the Snow Maiden/Yuki-no-Onna.
Also, LOL Kabitzin, that screenshot of yours of the Otogi Bank crew in meido get-up made me notice a production error — Majolikka’s hair isn’t so floor-length in that one.
After the Cinderella one, every other fairy tale insert has been pretty lame :hmm:
The only thing that really stuck with me from this episode was that Ryoshi’s aunt was hot. And I totally didn’t realize that was Majolikka in the group shot….
You didn’t recognize her because she got the classic chick-flick makeover where taking off her glasses and slightly fixing her hair makes her exponentially hotter. It’s like Clark Kent taking off his glasses.
That was a surprising treat, I didn’t expect her to not have her hat since with the swim suit contest she chose to wear it, so this caught me off guard. She’s actually really cute without her hat, glasses, and lollipop (plus she has pink hair that I neglected to notice).
I’m still not sure why everyone had to wear maid outfits, but kudos for them!!
She definitely cleans up nice, although she still a big nerd at heart
Aww.. I was hoping for a more dubious backstory for Otsu myself.
For a fairy-tale mangling parody series, one would think they’d be more…creative? But eh, I guess it never hurts to avoid having expectations. And couldn’t agree more about Ryoko’s maid outfit. :blank:
