Amagami SS 05

Quick, use your villain voice!

Summary:

This is some disappointing service

In this arc, we focus on Junichi’s friend of 3 years, Kaoru.  They’re kind of a flirty pseudo-couple from the start, with plenty of faux violence thrown in to make everyone else feel awkward.  One day Junichi sticks up for strict Ayatsuji Tsukasa, and gets a punch from “Kibitou’s Nuke” that knocks him out.  He wakes up to a worried Kaoru, who implores Junichi to meet her at the flower beds after school.

Junichi hopes that Kaoru is inviting him over to confess, but it’s actually just to have Junichi give advice to Takana Keiko.  Keiko confessed to a guy who won’t call her his girlfriend, but still wants a little string-free action on the side.  Junichi advises Keiko to use a letter to hold out for a real answer first, and then walks with Kaoru and chats about the Winter Flavor’s Fair.  Junichi admits that he thought Keiko was going to confess, and this puts Keiko in a tizzy.  When Junichi then immediately shows up at her part-time job, she finds herself unable to focus and wondering if she’s in love with Junichi.

Reaction:

A rich guy would have gotten her to spill slippery, Northern Crab Gratin all over herself

It is so interesting to see the characters in a parallel universe.  In this universe, it looks like Kaoru jealously ambushed Junichi’s original Christmas date and beat the hell out of her.  Also, Haruka is nothing but an NPC this time, and Miya has no problem with Junichi dating Kaoru.  I especially like how the wooing process was so different between Junichi and Kaoru, because just as you would expect from good friends, the two of them converse so easily and joke around… until one has to go and ruin everything by introducing love!  Even the Christmas flashback seemed to make more sense, as I was just as disappointed as Junichi after seeing the way he totally worked Haruka.  No wonder his confidence was so shaken!

Although the circumstances keep changing, this universe’s Junichi exhibits several of the same characteristics.  He typically speaks his mind, loves legs, moves rapidly, and knows how to think like a woman.  That advice about the cockblocking letter was so classic, with just the right amount of passive aggressive intonations.  More than anything, Junichi’s main move reminds me of a dating application of Futae no Kiwami where the first attack is meant to cancel out the defense, and a rapid second attack smashes through before the target can recover.  BTW, that chick who served Junichi coffee is totally a dead woman; hope you like the taste of German Suplex, waitress-san!

Did I read it right?

In this universe, it looks like Kaoru jealously ambushed Junichi’s original Christmas date and beat the hell out of her.

…..

..

Is this a spoiler?!?

I may have just made that up, but it sure was suspicious how Kaoru just happened to be there waiting for Junichi.

Her appearance was rather convenient, and it makes me wonder if we’re ever going to get to see the fate of his original date. Kaoru beating her up would be awesome, but I wonder if there was some kind of KGNE incident that kept her from showing up? Or maybe it was a friend’s mom and that’s why he never runs into her at school? So many possibilities….

I’d venture a guess that one of the six girls is the one that stood him up, except that he’d remember if he saw them. Though I am really curious to know if we’ll ever find out. Secret unlockable seventh character? Maybe they’ll be a big dramatic showdown between Girl X and Ayatsuji ‘Final Boss’ Tsukasa.

The real answer is surely out there in game-spoilers-land, but I guarantee his would-be Christmas date is the seemingly dependable class-rep-type girl who is last in Junichi’s trophy-fuckingloving rotation.

I also guarantee she’s gotta be CRAZY-BROKEN inside. Psycho chicks are the best.

I’m ready for a Mirai Nikki-esque twist.

I think Miya let the fact that Jonichi was with Kaoru slide because she thinks that Kaoru has him permanently friend-zoned. Once she finds out the he wants to spill his slippery crab gratin all over Kaoru I think we’re going to see her claws come out.

This was a fun episode, and while Jonichi could easily get himself killed, what with his low tolerance for damage and his seemingly impartial weakness for the thighs, I’m looking forward to more of Kaoru’s random violence. I also find it entertaining how they’re building suspense with the way that Jonichi is gradually setting his sights higher, moving from knees to thighs in this arc. Will he ever actually look a girl in the eye? Tune in next week….

That makes sense about Miya, and that was my first thought, but perhaps they have already fought in hand-to-hand combat and Kaoru was deemed worthy.

What is an “eye”? Is that a new term for “breast”?

As they say, “breasts are the headlights of the soul.”

Ok I think I’m going to start watching this series since I saw the first pic here. Usually animals bite and hold onto the ear to show dominance when mating as well as not cause the one underneath to run away… To see a girl doing that *hubba hubba!!!*

In this case, it’s not just the ear nibbling but her breath and what’s pressing against his back too…

Finally realized that I keep typing “Junichi” as “Jonichi,” LOL. That “OH John!” caption from last time really stuck with me. ;)

Given how Kaoru’s father left her and her mom to fend for themselves, I found myself thinking (1) at least he didn’t leave behind a ridiculously huge debt owed to a yakuza-style organization (Kaoru no Gotoku), (2) Kaoru should work at a maid cafe – the wages are higher (Kaoru wa Maid-sama!) though she doesn’t seem to have male-hating/distrust issues…
