Bow > Handshake
Summary:
I love your large cup holders!
We start off with someone getting dragged off by a moth and yelling “Fumihiko!” and it’s revealed that many people in Matsushiro have been disappearing. One of those people is (of course) Kozue, and some suspect that a tengu is to blame. Maya maps the disappearances, and decides to check out Zouzan Bunker, while Fumiaki spends his time attracting all the ladies and reminiscing about the past.
After making a great impression on Chihiro by being the first to ever compliment her dango hairstyle, Fumiaki totally falls for waitress Nakagawa Mikaze. Mikaze is the only one besides his mom to ever call him “Fumiaki” instead of “Bunmei” and this makes Fumiaki happy because everyone jumped off the Bunmei bandwagon once he lost his powers of telekinesis. Mikaze offers to take Fumiaki on a tour of the town, and she gets emotional as she thinks of everyone who died in the hasty construction of Zouzan Bunker 54 years ago. Meanwhile, Maya is also in the bunker, and she is attacked by one of the moths.
Reaction:
Crossbow > Handshake
I thought Fumiaki said he was tops in his class, but perhaps he was exaggerating, considering his desire to go back to the days when his mom made him curry and everybody loved him for his telekinesis. I was joking about it last time, but I was delighted to see Fumiaki use his simulator on Chihiro, only to find that some flags are not worth triggering. It seems more and more likely that Fumiaki really is an breast-loving idiot, rather than a powerful guy hiding his abilities. Still, I’m sure he’ll get his powers back in time to save the day.
I suspect that both Chihiro and Mikaze are manipulating Fumiaki. I bet Mikaze is actually working against Maya and Fumiaki while Chihiro is protecting Maya. Mikaze seems especially suspicious with her blatant fanservice and her fancy sports car. There’s no way she can afford that as a waitress at an empty restaurant. Of course it’s completely possible that things are exactly as they seem and no one is trying to be sneaky or clever. Maya seems to be proficient in a wide variety of weapons (chair, lance, crossbow, axe), which highlights her lack of spellcasting abilities. I wonder if she chose the fighter archetype due to her daddy issues.

I love that screeny. Fumiaki is such a creep. It will be very interesting to see the next episode. I like how this anime always leaves itself many possible scenarios to take, it’s never too predictable for me.
Yeah, it’s really hard to see where this story is going to go, with so many intriguing characters that seem to keep their cards close to the chest. Fumiaki must be slated to get a big power boost down the line, since he is a total loser thus far.
Well, considering her father had to write a spellbook for her, I don’t imagine she has too much magical ability. Either she never had the aptitude for it, or she didn’t care to develop it.
Also, this might be a little out there, but I think Mikaze might be the Nostradamus Key. They used his immediate attraction for her to hide it, but he never shot her with his camera. So either that or she’s going to stab him in the back, because years of fiction have taught me someone like this isn’t thrown in to just exist.
Usually those little researcher types are familiar with spells and make good casters, but I guess Maya didn’t neglect the physical aspects either.
It is interesting that Mikaze has not been photographed, but quite a few people haven’t. It would be a gut-wrenching scenario for Fumiaki to have to choose between killing Mikaze and saving the world, though.
Great screens xD. I liked the “But she’s fertile!” quip cos I would have done it for the sake of Japans declining population, alien invasion or no, at least my legacy has a chance to live on! Fumiaki did lose a lot of his creds though as a supernatural time travelling arse kicker… now he’s just a former spoon-bending, boob ogling, streakin’ momma’s boy with a keitai that does more in 1 second than he’s done his entire life.
Maya apparantly secretly does love the occult, but you know how those tsundere types go. Mmm, if they tossed Rin Tohsaka in here from FS/N it could be even more intriguing
The irony would be they stop the alien invasion, but Japan falls into serious decline due to low birth rates.
Maya is seriously tsundere for the occult. I wonder if she’s all blushy blushy while reading dusty old books when no one is watching  .
