Summary:
And I... yeee... I, will always love youuuuuuuuuuu
We start in 2012 with #5 Abe Minoru, a pyrotechnic, getting defeated by a mysterious flying enemy before he can grab the key and warp out. This leaves only #6 Abe Minoru, Uchida Fumiaki. Back in 1999, Kumashiro Maya arrives at Waldstein “Occult” Academy where a funeral for her father Junichirou, the principal of Waldstein Academy, is taking place. Unlike vice-principal Kawashima Chihiro, Maya is rather irreverent about the passing of her father, but when Junichirou’s final recording is played, it summons a lamie to possess Junichirou’s body and run amuck in the school.
Mounted!
With some help from childhood pal Kuroki Ami, dowser JK, and mechanic Smile, Maya tracks down her papa and liberates newly possessed student Naruse Kozue. While tracking Junichirou, Ami reveals that Maya used to be a huge fan of the occult, but ever since Junichirou got so into the occult that he slapped Maya and ignored his family, Maya has been resentful of the occult. When Maya finall finds the lamie, it tries to trick her with a happy family scene, but Maya is not fooled and quickly defeats the lamie with an axe-aided decapitation. While Maya sits on the roof telling herself she only returned to destroy the school, a bright beam of light suddenly appears, and a naked Fumiaki descends slowly from the sky right in front of Maya.
Reaction:
Imma hustla', axe about, axe about me
Well, this episode certainly had something for everyone. There was physical comedy, occult stuff, science fiction stuff, female and male fanservice, violence, and some intrigue with the vice-principal. The production values seemed very strong, although I kept feeling like I was watching Kuga Natsuki prancing around in a white dress.
Total eclipse of the heart
While there was horror, it was cheesy horror, and the intrigue seemed to be more important than any of the actual occult stuff. I guess that the time travel and manipulations behind the scenes of Waldstein Academy will drive the story, with Maya and Fumiaki providing the action and the giggles (and the fanservice). Seeing stuff from 1999 kinda makes me sad, but I enjoyed the first episode and deeply hope that the Y2K bug surfaces in the story.

That shadow is outrageous. They ended the episode perfectly. I really wonder how they will pick up from there.
I give Maya mad props for decapitating the monster despite its manipulations.
She got in that room and immediately went for the axe!
Great new show here! the ending made me laugh xD seeing Maya’s face = priceless
Yeah there were a lot of funny facial moments like when Maya saw her luggage get the snot treatment =3.
Do you guys blog about every single series?
Its sad that you’ve forgotten about the old series..
Kaicho wa Maid sama by Epi
And its been 3-4 days since I’ve read the new Naruto chapter! No Kabitzin analysis -_-
We blog most of the popular series, with most writers choosing at least 1 series per season. I was moving and with sporadic internet last week, so I skipped that chapter of Naruto.
Don’t you know? After defeating every single occult thing in existence (which is why nobody can prove the occult nowadays), they realize that 2000 IS BUT AN HOUR AWAY and try to stop it from happening. Unfortunately, all of the computers in the world blow up at the same time, sending them into oblivion as it is revealed that THIS IS A PARALLEL UNIVERSE
IN THE LAST EPISODE
and then infodump after the characters are dead
Noooooo, use the spoiler tags!!!
I guess the school staff should have vetted the whole recording before broadcasting it. And you could tell it really was 1999 because it was a cassette tape rather than an MP3 player.
I guess they didn’t want to spoil themselves! In my mind 1999 wasn’t that long ago, except… well, it was.
This show is definitely a fun watch
. I really enjoyed the humor and Maya’s detached attitude to scary situations.
