A bit late as it’s the end of the month, but with the Spring season coming to a close, I thought I’d make another list of my top shows of the past few weeks.
1) Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
With the final few episodes and the final epic battle, how could this NOT be my #1 show?
2) B Gata H Kei
Thought this show ended really well. A lot of these shows start off good and have some good middle episodes but ultimately end off really badly. Happily B Gata H Kei ended with two really great episodes. Even if the final episode wasn’t as funny it was a great way to wrap up the series as my favorite new show of the Spring season comes to a close.
3) Working!!
Was told to watch this show by everyone during my last list a month ago and while it started off really slowly the past few episodes have been really good. Although at first I wasn’t a fan of Mahiru and Aoi, they’ve grown to be pretty awesome characters in the past few episodes.
4) Giant Killing
With the World Cup happening right now, the actual soccer moves in this show isn’t nearly as exciting, but then again for a non-soccer player such as myself, it does add a lot to see what these people are thinking within the game and thus helps give me a bit more insight into watching World Cup games. Still I feel the show is slowing down a bit, which is inevitable. I feel that dedicating 4 episodes to 1 match (against Nagoya) will set the tone for the rest of the series where they can zoom past more matches without having to do as much in depth explanation.
5) Angel Beats
Surprizingly hard decision as the whole info dump episode was really dumb. Still it’s been somewhat fun to watch and the production values have kept up.
Falling:
Kaichou wa Maid-sama!
Although I’m blogging this show and loved it at the onset, the past few filler episodes have been really poor. I hope the story picks up again so that I can love the show again.
Durararra!!
Mikado is such a douche.

Of course FMA is # 1 ;P
And out of all the different blogs reviewing it yours is # 1 too Epi
Totally agreeing with you there
Now aren’t you glad we recommended B-Gata H Kei despite your misgivings? XD
I checked out 20-30 chapters of the Maid-sama manga, and found it to be almost all filler/fluff with loads of repetition and little plot progression. I suspect that’s the style of story the author wanted (it’s shoujo fast food but with some nice art and characters).
No idea how the anime will progress, but it’s actually clipping along at a faster pace (and with some material shifted around for structural and balance reasons). Nevertheless, I wouldn’t expect a world of difference unless the writers chuck out a ton of stuff.
I tried watching Giant Killing. The first 30 seconds of engrish explaining how Japan had ‘saved soccer’ really infuriated me. I couldn’t even get past that.
i am not surprised about your list
I pretty much have the same ranking as you only i’d replace B-Gata H Kei (which I haven’t watched) with Arakawa. However, seeing as people have been quite positive about the show i’ll have to give it a go. Did the same for Working!! and ended up being pleasantly surprised.
Durarara!!’s become distinctly mediocre in its second half whilst Maid-sama!, although pleasant is nothing essential recently. About on par with K-on!! for me.
ps. Why so many shows with double exclamation marks this season??
Agreed about the fall of Kaichou wa Maid-sama. Then again, this was to be expected, unfortunately – in the middle, the manga had several lackluster chapters, too.
We should be back on track with episode 14
I have to start watching B Gata H Kei. It seems to be up there for many people.
