Durarara!! 14 14 01

I'm surprised it's not actually a two-way mirror

Durarara!! 14 14 02

Why doesn't Selty use esmoketicons more often?

Shingen is not eager to become Selty’s new father-in-law, and “accidentally” lets it slip that he was the one that stole Selty’s head.  As Selty researches more about the Slasher, Shinra is forced to reveal that he discovered that Shingen once possessed the Slasher’s demonic sword Saika, before selling the sword to a secondhand-dealer and giving Namie’s uncle Selty’s head.  It seems that Saika is capable of cutting souls, and that’s how Shingen was able to cut Selty’s smoke/shadow.  After tricking Selty, Shingen slips out to pay Izaya a visit and they verbally commit to an alliance.

Shingen’s higher-ups (who must be male) were more interested in Selty’s body than her head, but Shingen likes Izaya’s plan to awaken Selty’s head by putting it in the center of a massive conflict.  As for everyone else, there is trouble brewing between the new Yellow Scarves and the Dollars.  Masaomi takes a break from protecting Anri from Takashi to go visit Mikajima Saki at the hospital, and Shizuo offers Selty his help against the Slasher.  Anri continues to wander around in a daze, and suddenly a kitchen-knife-wielding guy with red eyes appears behind her, ready to strike.

Listen baby, age ain't nothin' but a numbah

After lots of subtle buildup, it was a bit jarring to have a bunch of answers simply handed to me in casual conversation.  I guess Saika must be a real complex mystery. I’m kinda confused now about what exactly is going on with Saika.  It seems like Anri ought to have Saika, but there are definitely a bunch of Slashers and they are looking for Anri .  Does the Saika have a mind of its own to remotely possess random extras, sorta like the One Ring?  Or perhaps were fragments of it broken off and they are trying to make their way back to the not-fully-activated Saika?  Or are the Slashers just a bunch of potheads that heard that Anri has a huge stash of munchies and Visine?

Shinra keeps lying to Selty, but I’m through hoping they will break up; I’m actually curious to see how this relationship can work out.  As for Shingen, he seems like a goofball teasing Dojikko Selty and pulling that clever elevator trick, but I sense he is a very dangerous guy.  To be willing to behead Selty and remind Izaya to manipulate those close to Selty (rather than Selty herself), Shingen must be a piece of work himself.  I also get the feeling he is a big liar, and is concealing something behind that mask.  Hopefully Shingen can be redeemed, because I would love to see more wacky in-law drama with Shingen, Shinra, and Selty.

The only reason to want Shinra and Celty to stay together is the possibility of Thanksgiving/Christmas/whatever with the family. It would be hilarious.

“Merry Christmas, Celty! I got you your head, all wrapped up nice for you! Just kidding, it’s a wool cap! Ha ha ha!”

OMFG so cruel! When do we get to see Shinra’s mom? What kind of human woman would sleep with Shingen?

Shinra’s mom is Psycho Mantis.

There is the possibility that Shinra has been cloned from Shingen’s cells, so no female contact would have been necessary.

A Shingen clone totally makes sense, especially since Shingen always hides his face and everyone talks about how similar Shinra and Shingen are.

It’s the new feel-good comedy of the year! This fall, ABC presents Two Guys, a Fairy, and a Science Lab!
