Whaaaaaaaaat?!?! I have to blog K-ON!!? Oh man this is BULL!!!
Spoiler Inside
Show>
It’s the final year for the K-ONERS, and Yui is hard at work practicing her new guitar skills. Apparently all that cake eating, sister-switching and Heineken-drinking of last season paid off, but it’s not til the OP plays that we find out her new skill is a load of bull$#!%.
"C'mon Azusa! Let's watch K-ON!! on my new Apple iPad!"
After the disastrous OP, Yui proclaims her excitement of attaining adulthood and becoming a senior. She brushes her hair to the side and everyone hates it. Because of this, they force Yui to check the student placement list for remedial students. Unfortunately Luckily, all members of the HTT are in the same class.
SOLAR FLARE!!!
SPECIAL BEAM CANNON!!!
Their homeroom teacher is none other than Miss YAMANAKA. She so smart she makes everyone a BAKA. Strollin’ in her PRADA makin’ Single seem so PROPAH. My Diva best believin’ dat her TATA’s be on TOP-OF my penis…. Anyway, she rigged the student placement sheet to have all the main characters in one class. Red Glasses Girl is there too, but no one cares, and apparently no one cares for Azusa either. Since the original K-ONERS will graduate in the same year, Azusa will be all by her lonesome when the time comes, but no one wants to recruit new members ‘cause they like to keep in their inner circle of friends and feel good about themselves and watch Crunchy Roll on Mugi’s expensive iPad and drink tea and make really long sentences. THE END!

Impressions
What’s with all the hate on the OP song? Fans are acting like they’ve never seen Japanese porn! *BA DUM PSH* But seriously, how is the squeaky-ness any different from Sora-no-WHATDAFACKISDISSHEET’s ED, or BakemonoDEHGAYNESS (2nd) OP? It seems to me that haters gonna hate on any tiny flaw they find in K-ON!!
Am I a madman for liking the OP? Yes. Fortunately, I hate the OP, but I do like the accompanying animation, including the CG. Of course, a bunch of angry otaku will say, “OH THAT’S SOOO CHEAP I HATE WHEN ANIME HAS 3D!!!” but the fact of the matter is how far CG has come in anime. If a child were to see that sequence, they (probably) wouldn’t notice the difference. The line between blatantly-obvious-CG and 2D-animation is becoming thinner, but what am I saying? We all know children don’t watch K-ON!!
Most of the high-points would have to go to the new ED, which had some funky Scooby-Do0-ness in the mix! Overall, the ED was highly entertaining, but I didn’t like the sexy-baby-fat or that one scene where the animators conveniently place the microphone in front of Mio’s mouth to make their lives easier, but later mouth movements were pretty fluid.
Although not an exciting episode, it did an okay job re-introducing all of our wide-teeth characters, and that’s about it. There’s not much else to say, so hopefully we can get back to tea-gossiping and girl-shopping in the next ep.

The only problem with K-ON! is after the first episode of the first season THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH YUI. Sawa-chan-sensei is always excellent but I suppose the producers/writers were encouraged by the positive response to Mio and Azusa.
Words of wisdom! I think Mio and
Copy-CatAzu-nyan are cute, but you can’t have two female cats on the Ark of Noah, you know-a?! Sooooooooo you’ll have to kick out the inferior one, which I think we can both agree isWe can keep Mio as long as they continue to fuel the Mio x Ritsu implied yuri.
ROARRRR!!!!!!!!
Noooo!!!!! Don’t do that my precious Mio, I’m going to cry.
I quite liked the OP… until Yui opens her mouth and that distorted chipmunk sound comes out. I’d love to hear the reasoning of the anime staff why they didn’t think her voice was high enough already. The ED was better but the creepy Mio doppleganger freaked me out. What was she supposed to be, a cake fairy??? Mugi must be spiking the treats.
Good ep but not the best. We need more of Sawa and metal-band flashbacks. That season 1 ep was the best by far.
It’s interesting to note how many fans disliked the OP because of the voice. I think there are far worse squeaky-anime-songs out there that make Yui’s voice sound like the goddamn Batman!
Now all we need are those doujins! DOUGH-ZAH DOUGH-ZAH!!!
I still care for Azusa, despite how my recent behaviour suggests otherwies.
When I saw the OP and saw that Azusa had breasts, I thought: Uh-oh, here’s a Shin-Waifu divorce on the cards.
I’ll take her off his hands ;3… and yours too
OMGWTFAJ;OSFJAWEIJO FAWIOEJ FAWO HAW F…errr, I mean… (REMEMBER THAT EMAIL SOMEONE SENT YOU, JESUS159159159!!! REMEMBUuuUuUUuuUuuRRR)… Uhhh… Uhh… Yeah, ummm, I DON’T CARE ABOUT 159 COMMENTS ANYMORE!!! YEAH!!! In fact, I don’t care about making 159-related posts or comments, because my
loveappreciation for this person who sent me an email is higher than my pen-pen when drawing anime sketches! In other words… congrats! ;PMaybe Yui would’ve made a better Z fighter than lead singer…
I’d pay big-bucks to see it, but unfortunately my posts only cover the salt-water bill :< (also, it's interesting how easy it is to create captions for K-ON pics! It's quite effortless and fun, and I'm glad you guys are appreciating them! =D)
EDIT: and/or I'd pay big-bucks to see her go Super Saiyan 3, KNAM SAYIN??!! >=3
I know what you’re Saiyan.
Solar Flare! Well this post wins the entertainment award for the week.
I like the OP and the style they chose to go with, but I dislike the singing. Like I said on 2DT’s post about it, Yui just sings too fricken’ high for proper swing music. Incidentally, I didn’t like SnW’s ED either. XD
Man, Sea Slugs ALWAYS has the most entertaining episodicS ’round da block! WEARIN’ OUR ERR’DAY SNEEAKAHS!!! (represent!)
You’re a good man, Rakuen!
I felt that the OP was kind of nice, although they made Yui sound too squeaky for her own good. She sounds like she was tweaked using a music editing software or something ._.
And they seriously seem like they’re actually gonna focus on sipping tea and eating cake for this season, which will probably be as moeblob as the previous one. Yaaaay. Yawn.
I’m pretty sure they didn’t use a music editing software or anything of that sort. She just sings high, maaaaaaaaan *smokes it*
Sounds like Anime of the Year material
I don’t think Yui’s singing in the OP is too far off her normal singing voice in season 1. It’s squeaky, yes, but she only gets the gig because of Mio’s shyness and the standard is supposed to be just for a below-average high school band.
Also Aki Toyosaki’s range is about there too. Not the most versatile portrayal but singing is difficult even for the most talented seiyuu (e.g. Minori Chihara trying to sing in-chara wrt Nagato). I get the feeling that I’m giving her a lot of slack from how much of herself she’s poured into Yui’s chara and how much she loves the chara – she almost broke into tears while talking about at the K-ON! Anime Festival Asia 2009 panel and, as much as I hate to admit it, I was really touched.
Actually I also like the op….animation I mean. If it wasn’t for the squeakiness of Yui voice, I would have loved it even more. The animation was charming, and playful. Observing each detail of whatever the characters are doing is always fun to watch, especially seeing Mio with glasses.
I’m surprised they still use those costumes to recruit members, didn’t last season already prove that. And why hasn’t anyone say anything about it.
I still don’t know why Yui was trying to collect a dozen flowers. Whether it was to represent her 12th year in school, or just another one of her strange antics. Isn’t there only 3 years in high school for them?
Last note, the ending credits was great. I was pretty slow on the uptake regarding who this girl in black living in a cake suppose to be. I can’t get any meaning from the song to why there are two mios.
Alright! I’ll take this comment to better explain my situation with Yui’s voice! When I first transitioned to anime subs, I was in shock. I believe my first subbed anime/listening-to-the-original-Japanese-vocals were Card Captor Sakura and Mai-Hime. When I first saw these two shows, I thought, “Wow! Why does everyone sound like a baby?! Are Japanese voices that high?”, and after watching more anime, I realized that this is just how it is. I didn’t ask questions, I just got over it.
I think most anime fans had to get over it, or else they wouldn’t be watching anime, and that’s where I stand. Everyone’s complaining about the voice as if this were their first (moe) anime, and it really disgusts me. Yes, I agree that Yui’s voice is very high in this song, but what about the countless other anime songs that have 5-year-old-sounding high schoolers? Everyone is a goddamn
Batman/ Darker Than Black GHYPOCRITE!!! And this comment is not towards you, but more to those who will say something like, “OHhh I LOVE Sora no Woto’s ED!” and later on say, “LOL WTF K-ON!! OP SUNG BY CHIPMUNKS?!?!”. I’ve never seen anyone complain about SnW’s ED, and I thought it was because they’ve gotten used to the whole Japanese-squeaky-voice. Why can’t it be the same for K-ON? If it’s really that bad (which it is ;3), they are free to fast forward it.annnnnnnd this comment is pretty long, so to make it seem shorter I will write the rest of my reply in a spoiler:
The squeakiness bothered me at first. But after hearing it for a few times, I kind of like it.
It’s about time people realized that Key was behind the good music in all the Key/Kyoto productions. Just compare the music quality of Angel Beats to K-On.
lol
