Mikado mentions he’s tired of living a normal life, but now his life in his crappy apartment has been turned upside down by Melty. Masaomi and Mikado chat about who could possibly be a Dollar, and Masaomi correctly predicts that Takiguchi Ryo is a member. Ryo confirms his theory, and gives the usual spiel about why it is great to be a Dollar. Mikado is happy about this development and keeps Ryo’s membership pseudo-secret, saying only those who ask should have the right to know.
Later that day Mikado gets harassed by the hooligans that Izaya beat up earlier, and Izaya steps in once again to save Mikado. This time Izaya has Selty with him, and Mikado asks to see her non-head in return for listening to her tale about Melty. Although Mikado agrees to put in a good word for Selty, when he gets home he is jumped by Yagiri Pharmaceutical goons. The YP goons scamper away (without even cleaning the place!) when Selty and Izaya barge in, and Mikado suddenly gets fired up and logs onto the Dollars website. As a semi-surprised Izaya looks on, Mikado asks for their help, stating that he now holds all the cards; plus, the YP guys are probably already getting chased by Saburou, after accidentally hitting his van with a pebble.

That replay of last episode’s chase surprised me; why are Selty’s reflexes so slow?! I found it ironic that all three chatters were in the same room IRL, and yet they all know so little about each other. I think it is now pretty clear that Mikado is the founder of the Dollars, since he got that same stupid expression while asking Ryo about the Dollars that I get when I find out that a random person I’m chatting with has heard of SS!AB. Plus once Mikado busted out the fiery mouse moves, like something out of Saki it was clear that things just got real.
I’m not really that impressed with the gangs so far. The Dollars sound like any number of crappy guilds that spam chat channels taking anyone who will join. Their members are all a bunch of wishy-washy people who don’t want to be bossed around, with the possible exception of Shizuo and Izaya. I think Izaya may have been searching for the leader of the Dollars all this time, and perhaps this whole Melty thing was a way to smoke Mikado out. It wouldn’t surprise me to learn that Izaya forewarned Melty and also clued in the YP goons. Also, I’m almost certain that Masaomi was the original leader of the Yellow Scarves from how he reacted to Ryo’s story. Furthermore, I bet Anri is secretly the knife-wielding leader of a stalker gang, because that would make for some beautiful irony.

Regarding Anri, I’m actually with you there. It’s clear from the Slasher episode that there is more than one Slasher, and if that lanky girl we saw like one time is one of the Slashers, then the other girl could very well be Anri (certainly looks like her, anyway). Plus, Anri would be hotter as a Slasher than she is now; it must be so.
BTW, if she has her own gang, they have a ready made name with the Slashers. Way more intimidating than Dollars!

I see you had the same idea that I did about the YP cleaners. Maybe the pebble scratch happens after they leave Mikado’s apartment, despite being shown earlier in the episode.
Possible, given Durarara!!’s penchant for screwing with the timelines.

Izaya rules, either skipping whilst texting or faking riding a motorbike, life seems to be a lot of fun in his little world
Ps i took it to be that kida was in the blue squares, not the yellow scarves. The incident mentioned seems to be whatever left that random girl (with Izaya, some episodes back) in hosptial. Can’t really see him as a gang leader though. He doesn’t enough of a punked up wigger for that.
Izaya is pretty fun; ever since he stomped that cell phone I’ve liked him. I also like how he charged Namie for his services and then gave the work to some scrubs and turned a quick profit.
I’m pretty sure about Masaomi, given that rare serious expression he gets whenever someone talks about the Yellow Squares getting wiped out.
Yeah, that remark made me think Blue Squares as well.
The interesting thing is that Selty really is on a sorta-horse…
Founder? Wha-.. I’m too slow to figure this out, since every other anime blog seems to understand Mikado is the founder. Mikado is way too clueless.
Seeing Mikado’s apartment in the light of day made me realize just how confused he is. I mean, if Anri did burn his place down she’d be doing him a huge favor, and it’s not like he couldn’t escape in under 10 seconds with his three worldly possessions (I’m counting the mug/toothbrush as a single item) in hand anyway. Sure, the whole potential stabbing thing is a minus, and there is the fact that he can’t outrun her, but when is he going to have another shot at someone as hot as Anri? I say go for it.
Izaya’s the only one who knew where Melty was (besides Kida and Mikado), and since no one would ever hide anything of value in Mikado’s apartment, it seems pretty clear that he clued in the YP guys. I figure he’s got Melty on the move to screw with Namie while also keeping her safe as bargaining material should Selty attempt to thwart him.
