Time to start filming the shower scene

Summary:

If only I could /headdesk

Unlicensed doctor Kishitan Shinra (age 24) starts off by mentioning he is an underground physician who lives with the Black Rider, aka Selty Sturluson.  Selty is a Dullahan, and 20 years ago she woke up and found her head completely missing.  With a vague and incomplete memory, Selty became obsessed with getting her head back.    When she sensed it traveling overseas, she transformed her headless horse into a motorcycle and stowed away on a boat.  This is when she met a 4-year old Shinra, whose very open-minded father Shingen agreed to let Selty stay in exchange for an autopsy of her headless body.  Shingen finds that Selty has a dulled sense of pain, no heart, no blood, and various non-functioning organs.  In addition to her self-healing powers, Selty can sense smells, sounds, and sights around her, possibly from the black gas seeping out of her neck.

Back in the present, Selty meets up with Shizuo after getting a tip about a street artist who had seen a Dullahan many years ago.  After a wild goose chase, they finally track him down but find out that he can’t draw the head because it has been censored and is only available in the DVD/Blu-ray version. The artist mentions that a strange man told him that the drawing looked better headless and we later find out that the strange man was actually Shinra.  Shinra’s in love with Selty, and he worries that she might leave once she finds his head.

Reaction:

Go ahead son, throw some D's on it

20 years of living together and no marriage signifies a fear of commitment (or gold rings), if you ask me.  When Shinra was filming and Selty got in the way, all I could think was that maybe Shinra was using one of those racist HP cameras.  Anyway, I’m glad that Selty finally downloaded the Sawashiro Miyuki text-to-voice app, since I’m a big fan of Miyuki.  It looked like Selty was using some kind of hackintosh laptop, and we also learned that she keeps her money in her cleavage.

After hearing Shinra talking about Izaya and then seeing Selty hanging out with Shizuo, I get the feeling that all of them belong to the same organization.  Selty doesn’t seem that fond of Izaya, since he’s a creep who preys on emo girls and Selty seems to have her emo moments.  Selty also reminds me of how people say, “She’d lose her head if it wasn’t attached to her body.”  What Selty needed was one of those little elastic strips with the clips on the ends, like what little kids use to keep their mittens attached to their sleeves.

Don’t guys usually like head? I can’t believe Shinra thinks Selty is better off without hers.

Well only Selty would be getting head, hence Shinra is not nearly as excited about it.

Damn she’s voiced by Miyuki?!? I was going to say ‘I really liked her seiyuu!’. No wonder… dammit she keeps popping up in roles I like ever since Galaxy Angel so many years ago…

As for that laptop it’s actually a perfect rendition of the Asus Eee PC Netbook 10 inch model.

Miyuki forgive me, but I kept waiting for her to run across her head, sitting on a blanket next to a broken toaster oven for $22. I swear I had that song in the back of my head the entire episode.

I think that Shinra is opposed to Selty getting her head back because he realizes he has a good thing going. I mean, if he doesn’t want to listen to her complain about him not doing the dishes, all he has to do is hide her laptop. He probably realizes the marketing potential for headless significant others (male or female) and it wouldn’t surprise me if he was using his mobster makeover money to fund the research.

Also, I have to wonder if Selty has ever used a Speak & Spell as a prank in bed.

Also, think of all the money saved on wrinkle cream and botox in the years to come.

I was in a store today looking at a headless mannequin and it reminded me of Selty.

I’m glad that Selty finally downloaded the Sawashiro Miyuki text-to-voice app.

Totally!
