Summary:
Colio makes his way to Iea’s house, and she shows him Carthelo’s fragment of Shiron’s book. The flashback of Shiron’s showdown shows Shiron happily telling the defeated Wizakh that she rose up when she learned Colio’s name. Furthermore, thanks to the in medias res ramifications of Shiron’s powers, young Shiron got encouragement posthumously from Carthelo and Iea, while also being inspired by Colio’s courage which he has yet to display. Shiron’s instructions to Colio lead him to where Carthelo was killed, and as the wind comes to a stop, Colio gets ready to make his move.
Meanwhile, Hamutz puts on a spirited fight against Segal, but Shlamuffen is a sentient sword that essentially bestows auto-parry on its wielder. Colio then shows up to stab Segal with his tiny knife, as Shlamuffen flies out of Segal’s hand. In the aftermath, Colio is impaled by a beam and fulfills Shiron’s vision of the two of them watching a sunset together. Lascol shows up, uses Yor (the war machine that is the stone sword of spent time) to extract Segal’s book, and then loots Shlamuffen before anyone else can roll on it. Afterwards, the Armed Librarians use Segal’s fragment of Shiron’s book to brew up some chicken soup to cure the Dragon Pneumonia. Unfortunately, just as everyone is recovering, Volken remembers the writing on the Silver Smoke and takes off in a plane with the Library’s war machine Ylucklucu (a small winged statue).
Reaction:
I totally did not realize that Shiron had striped hair, because I just assumed that it was standard anime hair highlighting. If she was that upset about it as a youngster, she probably should have gotten a bobbed haircut, or a mom haircut. Still, the Colio-Shiron time-bending story was pretty cool, and I liked how it all wrapped up (i.e. with Colio dead). The only disappointing part was that we never got to see his chest wound, because he got conveniently impaled in the same spot by a beam. Also, it made no sense that the sun shining in Segal’s eyes would make a difference, since Shlamuffen is supposed to be sentient and it also indirectly killed Colio… unless the sun also was shining in all 8 of Shlamuffen’s eyes!
I didn’t understand Volken slipping Mirepoch the book of Sorcerer Lascall Othello, but I bet its importance will be revealed in time. I think we’re starting the real story now, and I am intrigued about Lascol playing both sides. He’s got two of the war machines now, and I figure that the main conflict will be over the remaining 4 relics. Hamutz was awesome during the fights, and I can’t wait to see her in action again. Mattoalast’s ability to see 2 seconds into the future makes up for his fairly tame combat abilities, and I wonder if Norotei has a cool combat ability or if she is more of a supporting party member.

I got the gist of the main story about Colio and Shiron’s story, but I’m all kinds of lost concerning the surrounding details of these swords or other artifacts and whatnot. It’s like, I don’t pay a lot of attention to what they say because its mostly hackneyed one-liners, but then I miss something that’s important. This anime doesn’t make me want to take it seriously, you know?
Yeah, I didn’t get what was going on either outside of Colio and Shiron’s story. I must haven’t been paying enough attention.
LOLOL, maybe you are too distracted by Hamutz? I suspect that this is one of those stories that slowly unfolds, so viewers are supposed to be mystified for a few episodes. I think the Colio-Shiron thing was just a big intro to the world of Tatakau Shisho, and much more will be revealed soon enough.

I’m almost convinced that Colio is coming back because the beam just punched through the hole he already had. It’s like he was conveniently hung up out of the way when someone came to clear the debris after the battle.
I hope Colio was just a plot device. I don’t want to see him back, although when he said he was over his Hamutz obsession, I LOL’ed.
I thought the same thing about Colio’s chest hole at first, but unfortunately he has a bit of Meat and spine in the way, so he’s not a Hollow.
I don’t know, his crying face was pretty amusing… and if he shows up later with a punk outfit and Bleached hair I totally called it; but you’re right, he’s better off as a plot device.
