Summary:

Yuki tackles Rina for a loss of 5 yards, but Rina is adamant about leaving Ogata productions.  The two have some pie and dry off, but Rina wants Yuki to be strong and decisive.  In a flashback, we also find that Rina encouraged Yuki while recording by offering to have Yuki provide some guest vocals on Rina’s album.  Over at Echoes, Mana is surprised to find that Touya really was dating Yuki, and Mana then proceeds to talk some trash about Haruka’s love life and dead brother.  It’s clear they both like Touya, and Mana mentions that Yayoi’s got to be in her late 20s or early 30s because a woman’s skin doesn’t lie.

Meanwhile, Itsuki stops by to tell Eiji that she didn’t actually own the painting that Eiji won from her.  In a hilarious scene, we find that Eiji cannot give it back because he wrote “Fake” on the painting, and so he has to give up his recording studio to stave off the painting’s true owners.  This is part of a mysterious plan by Itsuki, and she takes the studio while mentioning that Menou records and sings alone (except for her lucky teddy bear assistant girl).  Itsuki’s coworker also drops a hint about what Itsuki’s husband would think about this arrangement, but Itsuki quickly tells him to SHUT UP in Engrish.

Reaction:

Oh Eiji, not only do you have craptastic calligraphy skills, but you just painted on a ¥1 billion painting and lost your top singer.  When Eiji was saying it was too late to return the painting, I thought for sure he’d fapped all over it; you’d think he could have put a glass pane over the painting (since it’s already framed) and gotten the same effect.  All I know is that I hope Itsuki succeeds in her plot to cheat Eiji, and that Rina completely obliterates Ogata Productions and turns whiny Yuki into her backup singer/assistant (a la Menou’s teddy bear).  That’s right #6, there’s no way #1 Rina is going to have guest vocals on your album now!

I found it interesting that they want to showcase Touya working so hard on prepping Mana for her exams.  He never cared before, but I guess you can only sleep so many hours in a day, and waiting in a hospital is pretty boring.  Yayoi trying to pseudo-breakup with Touya was intriguing, and I fear she has fallen for the salty-teared lowlife.  I’m not sure if the truth that Touya didn’t want to accept was that his relationship with Yuki was over, or if it was something to do with Yayoi.  However, I think that when Yayoi saw Rina’s new ex-managers getting hot and heavy next to her, Yayoi was hoping to jump on any guy that looked like Touya.

Yuki tackles Rina for a loss of 5 yards

It’s amazing how the women in Touya’s life exceed him in every possible way: Yuki’s takedown of Rina was far more skilled than his clumsy attempt last season that only succeeded because Yayoi allowed it to.

When Eji was saying it was too late to return the painting, I thought for sure he’d fapped all over it

I was thinking the same thing. Eiji (yes, I’m still stuck on last season’s naming conventions) really irritated the hell out of me this episode. I mean, it’s fine if he’s going to let his obsessions amp up his self-centered jerkiness, but the blind stupidity on top of that is just too much. I, too, hope that Rina crushes him utterly and later employs him to lick her boots.

And I’m getting a very Milli Vanilli vibe from Menou’s relationship with the assistant. Kanzaki’s insistence that Menou records alone set off all kinds of alarm bells for me, so I’m very curious to see what’s going to happen there.

Mana’s jealous attacks on all the women in Touya’s life (that she knows about) were hilarious, but Haruka’s defense of Touya was pitiful. She obviously doesn’t know what goes on during those tutoring sessions (no matter how hard he’s trying now, lol). I actually felt kinda bad for Haruka when Touya laughed at Mana’s suggestion that Haruka was jealous. What a jackass. I’m looking forward to when she eventually breaks and stabs him with something a little more effective than a prop knife.

And I’m hoping that poor Yayoi is just iodine deficient. Though all signs appear to point to the fact that she actually does care for him, if she sees anything in Touya other than his usefulness as a mobile salt lick or a possible missile to hurl at her stalker, I may burst into tears.

Eiji (yes, I’m still stuck on last season’s naming conventions)

Ah crap, now I have to go back to make everything “Eiji” to be consistent…

I know, I don’t like this development at all. She needs to find herself a nice co-manager to flirt with in the car, instead of going for that loser Touya.

Oh man the prop knife brings back such good memories. Actually, it would be more accurate if Akira and Misaki were washing cups at Echoes when Fujii-san showed up and tried to stab Misaki with a big syringe, only to have to broken by that Browning book again. Then Fujii-san would have a heart attack and Akira would feel guilty and also inferior to Touya.

Also, it is going to be hilarious when Eiji shows up to tell Frankie he sold Echoes to pay for the painting, followed by Frankie punching Eiji in the face and cursing him out.

Jesus, you guys sure hate on Touya. Pleasuring a woman like Yayoi takes inconceivable amounts of effort. He’s not THAT bad of a guy.

Yuki never gave him a concert ticket, and ignored him for months ({?}a long time anyway!).

The relationship was pretty much dead right from the very beginning.

The dream sequence from the very first episode is about to finally become a reality.

Wait, where are you getting this information? As far as I know, it’s just her job; plus you don’t know that she isn’t really sensitive. Maybe it’s really easy… or she fakes it.

After watching Touya in action, I’m willing to bet that the relationship was never that real to begin with. It was probably just convenient for Touya.

Given Touya’s level of effort on everything else, I’d say that this was the more probable scenario.

How can you not? I’m getting annoyed on how he treats Haruka, and sleeping with Yayoi. I actually felt bad for him in the first season, but now I just can’t figure him out.

Wow, people downtown sure are friendly.

mentioning that Menou records and sings alone (except for her lucky teddy bear assistant girl).

Dang, that pres sure has a way with words, and I want to know more about Menou, and the quiet girl. How many episodes have to pass before we find out more about these two?

Rina is adamant about leaving Ogata productions

Come on Rina, I wanna hear Gozen 0jino Baby Doll already! I hope her “transfer” goes well too. And what’s with Eiji, he messed up his painting, lets Rina go, and now gave up his studio. What in the world is he planning.

Mana then proceeds to talk some trash about Haruka’s love life and dead brother

My god Mana, I didn’t know you could be so heartless. Did anyone else find it odd that Aikira and Misaki were smiling at the end of their argument? I just thought this scene was kind of awkward. So those two know that Haruka and Mana likes Touya?

Haruka is pretty annoying actually, but even if Touya dumped Yuki and legit-dated Yayoi, I’d still have an issue with what a slacker Touya is. Still, I do like what he brings to the story.

I always got the impression that Akira and Misaki were a bit… slow.

I think that they were on the verge of a bout of nervous laughter. After all, there's two nearly hysterical women breaking down in front of them in a public place.

You’re right, the couple probably didn’t want Mana and Haruka to show up pawing at their door.

I don’t think the actual painting was a billion yen. It was all some weird trick to extort money from Eiji.

I wonder if Eiji is really giving up his studio or just loaning it for the session. I mean if he was giving it away no need to be there for the recording right? Also wouldn’t it be rad if Eiji was Mana’s REAL dad??!!?!

Interesting, since no one knows that he defiled the painting. They must have counted on him really liking the painting.

Studio time can be expensive, but I assume that Itsuki already has a studio.

In the CR translation it is made clear that if Eiji had called their bluff the fallback plan was to say “we’re sorry” and beg for forgiveness, but he was too dumb to see through it and gave up the studio as collateral. As I said before I wish that a more reliable group was subbing this, I enjoy the show enough to watch the episodes twice, but I wish that I didn’t have to.

Kabitzin November 2, 2009 at 12:56 am

So in other words, Eiji is so stupid that other production companies regularly bait him with outlandish deals, just to see if he will bite?

/facepalm

No wonder Rina is taking this chance to get the hell out of Ogata Productions.

Touya(enchantedarms) November 3, 2009 at 1:59 pm

I still don’t understand Touya’s beating… ep 8 I think it was (sorry to bring it up this late -_-), I bet there’s a lot we could learn from the visual novel *pre orders ps3 version*

Eiji is intrigued by mennou san and accomplice, I’m curious to see where this development leads :blank:

If you’re talking about when Frankie punched Touya in ep 12, after Frankie wipes the floor with him, Touya said “It’s only a ride.” I guess Frankie saw Yayoi picking Touya up all the time, added things up, and called Touya on his cheating ways. As usual, Touya tries to say “it’s not like that” and then proceeds to prove that it is like that.

Ah, ep 12. The prop knife stabbing, Touya’s salty tears, the beatdown. Good times.
