Summary:

Minoru can’t afford any more nights at the hotel and so he sends the girls off for a train ride while he tries to fix Santana’s crappy car.  Unfortunately, the train is stopped for a fake military inspection, during which time the Snakes kill just about everyone on board.  Canaan dashes off while leaving Yunyun to guard Maria, and in the next car full of casualties Canaan hallucinates and imagines all the characters who died blaming her.  As ghost-Siam babbles on and on to stop using synesthesia and instead just absorb the truth with her normal eyes, Canaan suddenly realizes she needs to stop smoking whatever it is she’s been puffing this episode.

Unfortunately Alphard has already stolen Canaan’s seat and made stupid Maria agree to be a plot device in exchange for a snapshot of Alphard.  As soon as the camera fires, Alphard shoots Maria in the gut and locks the girls in a room next to a bomb.  Canaan runs back to protect her light, but instead gets a lesson in melee beatdowns courtesy of Professor Alphard.  There’s another flashback of Siam telling young Alphard that some out-of-shape people hack and cheat, and this causes everyone else to fall into despair.  Since Alphard has real skillz, she does not fall into this category.  An angry Canaan wants Alphard to stop calling her “despair” but then hallucinates again about getting up on Maria while she is getting up on Alphard.  More punishment is followed by Canaan realizing that Alphard is no longer exhibiting any blue killing intent, while Yunyun crawls out of the locked car and detaches Maria’s car from the rest of the train.

Reaction:

It was funny how Maria tried to cheer Canaan up by mentioning how they had to share a bed since Minoru was too poor to afford more rooms.  Other than that, however, Maria was just as sucky as ever; still, I can’t imagine that she will die.  Can’t double-appendix Yunyun break those chains?  Can’t Canaan remotely defuse the bomb with her eyes?  Canaan seems dumb as hell sometimes, and I can only assume that it’s Maria’s bad influence rubbing off on Canaan (must be spread through touch…).  Why in the world would Canaan run off to a section of the train with no color.  Did she forget she had synesthesia?  Canaan is like one of those horrible lone wolf players in a flag capture map, getting lost and then coming back too late to help with the flag defense.

Although Canaan’s hallucinations made no sense at all, I was mollified once again by Alphard’s sweet moves.  Alphard gets the best choreography in this show, and I can’t believe Siam dissed her as borderline.  Did he not catch the headkick and spinning backfist feints into a spinning hook kick to Canaan’s knee followed by a knee to Canaan’s face?!  It’s too bad Alphard is still so hung up on winning the I AM GUNDAM CANAAN award, and I have to imagine that if anyone ever showed up to a party wearing the same dress as Alphard, that girl would get a major beatdown.

I’m about as surprised that you still manage to watch this stuff as I am that you seem to be ignoring Phantom lately ;)

Who are you and what did the aliens do with the real Kabitzin?

Ah, my son was just born last week, so my sleep schedule is crazy and I pretty much feel like a zombie. The sleep situation is getting better, so hopefully I can catch up to Phantom this week or next week.

Phantom requires a lot more thought to blog than Canaan, which is why I am up-to-date on Canaan ;) .

This show makes everything more complicated than a needs to be. It’s just Alphard wants to prove that she’s better than Canaan. All the other stuff that happened seemed kind of irrelevant in this episode.

Canaan chokes every time she fights Alphard. I guess Alphard is just that awesome.

Seriously, although at least Alphard seems to generally have her jealousy under control when it comes time to battle. Canaan is so helpless when her synesthesia doesn’t work, that it makes me wonder why they bothered with all those experiments. At first I thought it was just Alphard being so good that she makes Canaan look bad, but that episode where Canaan couldn’t even hit the Unbloom made me reconsider. What was Siam teaching Canaan anyway?

I think it’s more like Canaan not learning her lessons rather than Siam not teaching her. Or maybe Canaan started to forget about her teachings, and part of the blame probably goes to Maria lol.

I think it’s less of the “Who really is Canaan” battle, but one between someone who apparently embraces love, as other people say Canaan does, and someone who apparently embraces hate, which is what Alphard’s been doing all along. And Alphard has also watched with cool detachment and a little annoyance at all the people that apparently try and spread love around: Cummins, Liang Qi, the POTUS, and so on. It’s a little understandable but too short sighted. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if she was like “I love you Kashim Canaan” at the end of this battle. :P

Praise be to Alphard onee-sama’s whose prowess is such that Canaan’s powers struggle to compete despite the wounding of Maria. I still have no idea what my liege is up to but certainly it seems that Alphard is not simply out to kill everyone as she spared Yun Yun and only shot the annoying one. On the one hand it might be that Alphard is simply out to kill off Siam’s legacy by killing Canaan and proving him wrong, or it might be that Alphard just wants to have a good fight for once.

Given Alphard likes to troll people maybe it isn’t even a real bomb, every other bomb so far has been a dud…and it’s not like Alphard aimed at a vital region that would have been a mortal wound. Maria isn’t doomed quite yet as she is a main and she as only shot in the stomach.

One thing about this show… is that I really wonder what the entire point of everything that’s happened up until now was. I mean it seems like the series is really just boiling down to Alphard’s revenge. Unless there’s going to be 13 more episodes…

Canaan is like one of those horrible lone wolf players in a flag capture map, getting lost and then coming back too late to help with the flag defense.

Liang thinks Canaan triggered Alphard’s flag while Maria has realized that Canaan has triggered her flag.

If Maria dies, her obituary will be better written and researched and feature better photography than anything she could have done in her life. Bank on it. (Although she did manage to take a killer photo of Alphard!)

I would assume Maria selected a small aperture and slow shutter speed so that when Alphard shot her she wound up getting a blurry shot, but I don’t think that sort of thing happens very often with film cameras.
