Phantom Requiem for the Phantom 20 20 01Phantom Requiem for the Phantom 20 20 02Phantom Requiem for the Phantom 20 20 03

Summary:

It’s 2 years later, and Reiji and Ellen have traveled from Mexico to Peru, the Palau Islands, the Philipines, and finally Reiji’s hometown in Japan.  Under his “sister” Ellen’s tutelage, Reiji has become quite the suave actor, and Daisuke’s sister Fujieda Mio has the hots for the ex-Phantom.  Mio’s friend Sanae keeps pushing Mio and Reiji together, but it’s not till Ellen gives Reiji her support that he agrees to go on a date with Mio.  Ellen learned of Mio’s connection to the Godoh group from Scythe Master, and she’s keeping Mio close as a pseudo-hostage against Godoh Kaiten and Inferno.

With additional training and planning with Ellen, Reiji’s date starts off smoothly.  Unfortunately, before Reiji can get to the scheduled love hotel session, a mysterious biker shows up and subtly shoots Mio’s chain off.   Ellen is sad that they have to leave Reiji’s hometown, since watching his heart open up gave her happiness and hope for when she gets a chance to visit her own hometown.  Inferno’s proximity puts Reiji on edge the next day, but he isn’t prepared for when the biker girl pulls out the watch that Reiji gave Cal.  Reiji can’t believe that Cal is still alive, although he’s even more surprised that Cal didn’t get a PHTM-3 vanity plate for her motorcycle.

Reaction:

This episode was so incredibly awesome, but I was thrown off by Ellen at first.  I couldn’t believe my eyes when Ellen was bobbling her fish with chopsticks (though she did catch it with her mouth), but I was really skeptical when she didn’t snap at Mio and tell that hussy to back away from Reiji (basically Cal’s reaction).  Of course once I learned that she was simply pimping Reiji out to use Mio as a shield, all was right with the world.  Confession really is a blitzkrieg!  I also want to know what Cal was like in training.  I can imagine her getting her outfit ready before going to Japan; it’d be like going to your 10-year high school reunion and shocking everyone with your transformation.

I was really excited to see Cal, although the OP gave the surprise away.  I like how Cal seems mean now, and how the sight of Reiji on a date with Mio pissed Cal off so badly that she broke Mio’s chain… with a pistol.  Since Cal enrolled in Scythe Master’s 2-year Phantom program, she should be about equal to Ellen at this point.  However, given the size of Cal’s bust compared to Ellen’s, perhaps Scythe Master has refined his massage technique; with Cal’s innate acting skills and her Reiji crash course, it’s very possible that Cal is the most powerful Phantom now.  Major props to Cal for giving that loli bust-up hope in the elevator!

Absolutely awesome start for the third and final chapter. And if you liked ep20, you’ll love 21, which was fantastic in my opinion. Cal is stealing the show and running away with it, even though the other chars still do a good job. Very happy camper over here. Looks like they’ll manage to capture the mood of the great incoming showdown well.

Damn you and your ‘I can watch anime much faster than you minions who have to wait for the translation’ Mentar! :p I also see that you somehow posted your post before the ep 21 RAW torrents were even available (or are my timezones just messed up) cause aren’t you in Europe?

I love characters that come back bitter and ready for vengeance. It is gonna be awesome watching busty-Cal go up against Ellen for Reiji’s affection!

Episode 20 was awesome! I’ve always been a big fan of those ‘reset’ episodes where everyone’s living normal lives again.

I’m a bit surprised at their ages though. This whole time I thought Reiji was a bit older, like maybe 20 or something, I didn’t realize he was just 15 originally and same with Ein/Ellen.

I’m interested to see whether this show has a happy, sad or bittersweet ending.

P.S. Massage4tehwin

P.P.S. What’s with Elen’s hair? Ugh

Yeah, I figured they were older too.

And Ellen’s hair has been longer ever since she “reappeared” (thought it seems like it might be slightly longer even in this episode)

hmm, given that I just added spoiler tags to my comments, I don’t think I ever noticed them here…hmmm

Spoiler Inside Show

So that’s what it looks like

Previously though, Ellen was usually in the dark or only shown for a few seconds so it was hard to get a good look at her horrible mullet haircut. I’m not even sure you can completely blame Scythe Master for Ellen’s haircut, which makes the situation that much worse.

Also, I swear most people don’t even see the quicktag buttons on the comments  .

I want to see an end where Reiji turns on his crazy Phantom pimp powers that none of the female Phantoms have in order to seduce Ellen, Cal, and those production model masked-girls that Scythe Master has. A battle between Reiji’s good looks and Scythe Master’s magical hands would be awesome!

If Reiji and Ellen haven’t been practicing for the past two year, then I would have to agree.
Cal!!! What happened to you, I thought you were like 10 or 12! So yea exactly how old is this girl, cause this episode is confusing the hell out of me in regard to everyone’s age.

the sight of Reiji on a date with Mio pissed Cal off so badly that she broke Mio’s chain… with a pistol

Wow I thought that was simply a threat, I totally disregarded that Cal would be jealous. In fact I didn’t realize it was Cal until she showed the pocket watch to Reiji. Come on, a growth spurt that fast would surprise anyone. Well Cal wish to be adult quickly finally came true. Now a Reiji x Cal can be ok.

You make a good point, since Reiji definitely hasn’t been practicing, and all Ellen does is pray now. If it was an acting contest, though, I’m not sure who would win…

Well Cal wish to be adult quickly finally came true. Now a Reiji x Cal can be ok.

Cal is probably still jailbait, and in fact, the situation is even more dire than before. Damn growth spurts!

*checks earlier episode entries* …wait what, we’re supposed to believe “Starved Rat” Cal grew into that in just two years ?
:o
Pix or it didn’t happen. What has Scythe Master been feeding that girl ?

the problem with Requiem of the Phantom is that it’s missing a lot of action. I didn’t get to see much of the power each phantom processes like the characters in Canaan does. The storyline is amazing but there are a lot of potentials that aren’t recongize because there are scene that are too draggy and most of the story focuses more on feelings instead of thrilling intense fights.

Debate with me if you like but
I think they should have Ein die on ep6, return on Ep 9, fight Zwei on Ep 11 and this should be ep 12 because there’s are a lots of things that could happen, like Zwei and Ein facing many new phathoms with Cal as their leader..

PS: WHY IS CAL SO MATURE ALL OF A SUDDEN ad Ein and Zwei still lokking like students. ???

I just started watching phantom the animated, although the storyline is a bit rushed, the action is there.
It seems better.

Cal’s rack is obviously fake. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but I call plastic. And for 1337 assassins, they all sure spend an awful lot of time in front of enormous windows….

It’d be so wacky if we found out Cal got fake boobies because of her Reiji-issues. Craziest pseudo girlfriend ever, or craziest pseudo girlfriend ever?

Cal probably found the stash of “motivational polaroids” that Claudia had given Reiji and realized that she had to up the ante in the chest department if she was going to compete for his attention. I’ll reserve the craziest pseudo girlfriend judgment until I watch the rest of the episodes, which shouldn’t be much longer. I knew I should have watched this instead of Princess Lover….

Having watched through to the end, I completely agree with the craziest pseudo girlfriend ever assessment. I mean, she was clingy before, but once the hallucinations kicked in she had it clinched.
