Summary:

Georg is still pissed about the Militia getting all the glory and so sends them on a fruitless assault on the mining town of Fouzen.  Fouzen is one of Gallia’s few ragnite mines, and so the Gallian forces cannot afford to let Berthold control the town.  The problem is that the Imperial train cannon, the Equus, has tremendous range and firepower; the normal Militia forces simply cannot get close at all.  Thus, Squads 1 and 7 infiltrate the town and meet up with Zaka’s resistance forces.  During the entire operation, Rosie cannot slow the flow of racist verbal diarrhea that is spewing from her mouth.

The plan is for Largo’s team to feint a liberation of the Darcsen concentration camp while Welkin’s team simultaneously assaults the mining base.  This should allow Rosie and Zaka’s forces to take out the Equus so that the rest of the Gallian forces can stream in.  Because Rosie’s forces need to know the town’s layout very well, Welkin gives Rosie permission to explore the town as long as Zaka acts as a guide.  This then leads to an inexplicable sequence where Zaka has to “save” Rosie from an Imperial patrol by dry humping the hell out of her and grabbing some thigh meat.

Reaction:

I can’t even begin to understand why Zaka felt he had to pseudo-rape Rosie; it’s not like the Imperial soldiers were suspicious or even attentive.  What made the scene even more ludicrous was how the soldiers just laughed it off as if sexual harassment was something that Darcsens did all the time.  Although the whole thing was very odd, at least it happened to Rosie of all people.  Welkin would probably have set her straight right away, except he is too busy thinking about his new love rival Faldio to curb Rosie’s racist tendencies.

There wasn’t too much going on in this setup episode, although Isara did reveal that the Edelweiss is not that comfortable to ride around in.  Berthold’s decision to park the Equus on a vulnerable bridge boggles my mind, but I suppose he is careless and arrogant after kicking so much Gallian tail from far away.  Meanwhile, watching Faldio try to be a gentleman towards Alicia is really awkward and I find his game to be lacking once again.

Zaka wanted to get a feel for Rosie all along so he was just using the soldiers as an excuse.

Everything about this series is a little off… in an unintentional way of course.
