Summary:

The defense of Fouzen is left to Major Babel, and the Militia is brushed off to scout Barious Desert. Ramal is pissed at being sent to an area of little strategic value, but Faldio is very excited to finally get a chance to see the Barious Ruins. Just as Welkin is an animal otaku, Faldio happens to be an archaeology otaku. Faldio believes that much of what is known about the Darcsen Calamity is untrue, and desperately wants to solve the mystery. Isara stays behind to fix the jeep, Hans stays behind to guard Isara, and Ramal stays behind in hopes of spotting Isara’s pantsu while she works on the engine.

Meanwhile, Alicia, Welkin, and Faldio journey to a morion-shaped library whose crystalized ragnite inner walls are covered with Old Northern script detailing the struggle between the Darcsen and the Valkyrur. The Calamity was only 2,000 years ago, and today the Randgriz family of Gallia is said to to have inherited the blood of the Valkyrur. Maximilian and Selvaria are also in the library, and Selvaria uses her blood to open a vault. Maximilian is pleased to confirm that the legendary holy spear is housed in the library, but at the same time, Alicia accidentally touches a door and opens a hidden inner chamber. Faldio is estatic, but the trio suddenly comes face to face with Maximilian and Selvaria.

Reaction:

It seems we’ve finally started the real storyline. There were a lot of old conflicts mentioned, like how Radi is a member of the Dark Knights of Fhirald, and once fought against Berthold. Sure Berthold’s side won, but all Berthold got was a wound in the thigh, while Radi got a swank job and all the wenches he can handle. Ramal tried his best to do the racist thing too, but while he rages against the Darcsen, the stiff young tsundere clearly wants to make Isara his girl. I loved when Welkin mentioned that Ramal’s love of Faldio was like that of a beta male wolf and then Alicia told him to STFU.

As for Alicia, she’s gotta at least be part Valkyrur. The door opening and the mutant healing factor are dim clues, but both imply that Alicia is more than just an ordinary baker. Alicia was much too eager to go along with Faldio and Welkin, considering how reluctant she normally is to hang with those two. Before you know it, Alicia will be breaking out the Solar Hands and baking crazy new breads. Meanwhile, it looks like Fouzen and its 30% Darcsen population is probably screwed in the coming battle with Berthold. One day Eleanor will get Georg back for that comment about obedient women.

I always thought Ramal x Isara would make a cute couple.

I knew Jun Fukuyama was in this, but for a second I was like “wha- Lulu?”

Ramal is so annoying…. I wish Isara would have chucked her wrench at him.

For sure, she and Hans should have gone high-low hitting Ramal in the face with a wrench and pig-headbutting him in the nuts at the same time.

Seems there is a lot hatred for Ramal – im one of them haha, hopefully he will not die a heroic death coz that will be too easy on him. Looking forward to next week confrontation

The one thing Ramal has going for him is that he is the first bigotdere that I have encountered in anime.

Why the heck is Maximilian still in the library? Is this his second visit? How can Alicia have fought in a battle, spent like a week blocking Irene’s interview attempts, and still caught up to Maximilian?

Wouldn’t worry about *that* if I were you. What perplexes me now is the geography of Gallia, which insofar as the official worldmap can be judged by is basically ersatz BeNeLux on the coast of ersatz Europe… you would think at some point it had occurred to someone somewhere in the original writing/editing dep’t that “forgotten ruins” kind of locales just have no place in a region as densely populated and extensively trafficked as that, and a frikkin’ desert even less.

Also, told you the history parts were going to be a riot. Personally I’m fully expecting to eventually learn the Valkyrur were the Atlanteans and/or space aliens, or something similarly hilarious.

Must.. not.. spill.. spoilers.. *gags himself*

The problem with playing the game and watching the anime at the same time is that you tend to get mixed up between the scenes, but I’m pretty sure I’ve not seen Ramal in the game (while I can name almost everyone else in squad 7 o.O)

Ramal and Isara do make a cute couple and I’m hoping that would change certain events from the game XD
