New Contact Form

Kabitzin on May 20, 2009 · in Site News

I switched out cforms II for Contact Form 7. The original plugin worked fine, but I think it’s crap that cforms II doesn’t take advantage of the WordPress automatic plugin upgrade system. When every other plugin in my list does, it suddenly becomes a huge chore to have to go to the plugin site and use FTP to upload each new iteration of the plugin. Let me know if you get any errors using the new contact plugin (which supports Akismet).

Yeah I am considering a switch as well, pretty silly to have to go to a separate page instead of using an automated plugin update option.

Talking about automatic plugin upgrades, have you encountered any issues with YARRP? I need to deactivate it before upgrading and then reactivating otherwise the Related Posts will spit out a whole load of PHP error messages.

A week or so back one of the YARPP upgrades required that you rebuild the YARPP cache or something. Look in the options, this should fix the errors.

Considering you’ll have to manually upload to upgrade cforms anyway, switching to this one was an easy decision. For a simple contact form, a lot of what cforms can do just goes to waste anyway.
