This is pretty cool! I was a little disappointed there weren’t embarrassing upskirt or Sader images in the background, but I guess Nikon wouldn’t have gone for that. For the record, the commercial totally made me want to buy a Nikon DSLR, but I can’t afford one so I’ll have to stick with my Canon Powershot S5 IS for now.
One of the founders of Sea Slugs, I handle most of the blog admin tasks while wearing my I AM BOSS shirt. I like my action series well choreographed, and my romance series extra trashy. I also have a soft spot for puns.
He uses “basically” and “whereby” way way too often. But I fail to see how this commercial’ll be successful in the larger scheme of things, I think it needs more shocking stuff to make it memorable.
Whoa! Is that a mix of Britain and Asian I hear there? =3? His voice… I can listen to it all day!
But in regards to the video, as much as I like da Danny Choo-Choo Train, I feel it didn’t really convey its message very well. Only at the end was I reminded of the whole Nikon thing. I think in order to convey its message (of selling Nikon cameras?), they really need to shorten that commercial. The part with the food and onwards was something that, like he said, people can relate to, and I feel it was the strongest part of the vid. The rest (the maids, the figures) didn’t cut it for me, but when I think about it, it is most definitely complicated to make a commercial of Danny, cause hes such a diverse guy. I mean, where the hell do you start? Of course you would want to add the figures, the maids, and the site seeing of japan, but its just too much information. And one thing I hated the most about that vid was the figures part. Figures are his LIFE, and yet its like, “so yea, the figures, i take pics of them, creative, a moment in time and space, OKAY NEXT SUBJECT!!!”
So yea, I totally wasn’t feelin’ that commercial D= (but I sure as hell would like to feel up on him yo, feelin’ me homes? =3)
I kinda liked the commercial. It touched on his various hobbies and how his beautiful pictures spoke to people and transported them to a faraway place (and got him hundreds of comments).
I liked the commercial too, but I’m just wondering if people who don’t know him will feel the same, and this is basically what the commercial is trying to do: Explain who he is. I just think it wasn’t done in the best way possible, but anyways:
and got him hundreds of comments
W-w-w-w-w-well, I’ve gotten you 412 comments! Doesn’t that mean anything to you? Why must you treat me like a child? =( And like, we’ve met before! Kabitzin: “We-we have?” Jesus159159159: “Well of course! You said so yourself! Once Upon a Dream! AAAIiiiii knooowww youuu!!! I’ve-*gets shot*”
Saw this on dannychoo.com earlier tonight. Pretty cool that he got to be in a commercial, I wonder if this will be web-only or on TV. I’m not sure it’s such a great commercial though, him talking about maids would be sort of weird to the average person, although completely hilarious for me.
I need to get myself a dslr, have been trying to decide between Sony and Nikon.
Danny did a great job there and it felt like he was being himself, showing off all those photos and the way he talked. I wish seeing maids throwing water on the road was something I see every day too

Danny Choo is my hero.

Some people might find legions of maids throwing water out on the street kinda shocking (although Danny sees this sort of thing every day).

I think a Danny Choo HP commercial (like this one) would be especially intriguing to the average TV viewer.
That would be very interesting indeed. This is still a nice commercial regardless.
He’s the man. Anyone who blogs about Japanese food is a winner in my book…..I’m really really hungry now.
Oh lol, I saw this and for some reason went and compared features of Nikon’s even though I thought I already decided on a Canon DSLR orz
Ah choices choices…
His Freudian slip in his twit regarding Canon and Nikon made me giggle.
