Summary:
Arihara Ayumi tells her friends about her in-class daydream about a prince confessing to her. Ironically, right after Ayumi explains that she would unconditionally loved any man who confessed to her, scary high schooler Zaitsu Misao steps out and hands her a love letter. Ayumi is too scared to answer right away, and so Misao stalks her every day on the way to and from school. Further complicating matters is the fact that Misao’s younger brother, Mamoru, is in Ayumi’s class and is a handsome gentleman who hopes to become a paramedic. When Mamoru carries an exhausted Ayumi to the nurse’s office, she instantly develops a crush on him and decides to give Misao an answer… sorta.
Ayumi tells Misao that the stalking is creeping her out and that she’ll answer him properly if he stops following her. Unfortunately, she then falls into a plot by some hooligans to use her as a hostage against Misao. The hooligans threaten to expose Ayumi’s panties if Misao doesn’t acquiesce to a beatdown, but Ayumi tells Misao to row row fight the cowards. Ayumi then easily breaks out of the ineptly tied ropes, knocks out the ringleader, and then high-kick’s Misao for scaring her. Everyone believes that Ayumi is some kind of onna bancho, and a hidden Mamoru is frightened by Ayumi’s power.
Reaction:
This episode was a lot funnier than I expected, and even the fanservice was tamer (and less corny) than anticipated. There were quite a few panty-shots, but no one even fell on a boob. Maybe that’s next episode. I liked Ayumi, especially in how she tried to use Yuuji’s siscon against him and then dramatically went to sleep. I also liked Enomoto Kei laying the verbal smackdown on Kusuda Etsu because his Kappa-esque joke of a face didn’t mesh with her tendency towards handsome men.
Even the hooligans were funny, like when the ringleader told his cronies not to underestimate the call of nature and when the other hooligans were judging Misao for liking a middle school girl. While there are plenty of cliches in the characterizations, I thought the execution was very good. I’m in the mood for some light romance, and I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season. I’m waiting to finish the anime before I read the manga, though.

The first two episodes exceeded all my expectations. If this keeps up, it’ll be light romance paradise. J.C. Staff, don’t let me down.

Just wondering, is it even physically possible for a five-foot-ish girl to kick a six-six guy in the face without the girl jumping and with the guy standing straight? I know, it’s anime right. I should stop nitpicking.
Yeah it was a pretty decent episode. Hope the comedy will continue.

For the better or worse?
Just watched the first 2 episodes and I gotta say I really enjoyed them. The comedy’s pretty funny, it’s not too ecchi, the characters are likable (though beast-kun is no Harima for sure), and I love the character designs. Wait til you see Misaki in ep 2, holy cow – heavenly!
Just caught it. Ayumi and Misao are actually perfect for each other. LOL
