Having blogged the original FMA, I was really curious to hear that FMA would be undergoing a remake, so I’ve decided to pick up this series and see how it goes. Episode 1 pretty much wets the palate of viewers as we’re reintroduced back into the FMA world where Fuhrer Bradley (Eye Patch Alchemist) has ticked off Issac McDougal, the Ice Alchemist, for his use of the alchemist in the Ishbal war, and Bradley has called upon good ole Roy Mustang to come in and capture Issac. Isaac has started to draw transmutation circles all around Central City when he runs into our heroes Edward and Alphonse Edrich. Although the two do manage to get the upper hand in their first battle, Issac manages to escape as he is quite sneaky with his water manipulation abilities. After failing to recruit the devious Kimblee, Issac continues to draw transmutation circles around the city and eventually execute his plan to try and destroy the Central HQ, but he under-estimates Bradley when the two finally lock eyes, and Bradley takes down Issac with one slash of his sword.
I personally was glad to see that it sounds like they kept most of the same voices from the previous FMA, although Roy’s voice doesn’t sound as manly as I remembered. And you gotta love Al and his squiggly mouth as he gets confused as the Full Metal Alchemist while poor Ed continuously gets bombarded with short jokes ;P . And who could forget Maes Hughes with his consistent effort to show everyone a picture of Alicia and the hulking manliness of Armstrong ;P . Although this episode wasn’t very deep, it’s a good start I think to reinvigorating everyone interest in FMA again.

Big fan of FMA here, so glad to see it make a return
IMHO the movie ending of the last FMA didn’t make much sense (the crossing over to our world thing) so I’m eager to see the manga ending animated.
When Ed was dodging the blood attacks, I kept thinking, “Damn, he could get AIDS from that.” :hmm:
I’m sure Ed could mold his blood into AIDs eating white blood cells.
lol, I was thinking the same. Blood icicles are especially cruel.
I don’t dig the new Roy. He’s missing his trademark arrogance
